Bad Axe Tool Works makes saws as they would have appeared fresh out of a 19th Century American sawmaker's shop, only you decide how to customize the look and toothline to best suit your woodworking requirement and style. It's all about maintaining traditional design and sound sharpening practices, balanced with today's technological innovations--an approach we believe Henry Disston himself would have approved.
So put a Bad Axe in your arsenal, and find out why hobbyists and experts alike assert how our saws cut like they're on rails.

Henry Disston posted a motto throughout his Philadelphia plant stipulating, 'Quality Sells.' Likewise, the NCOs bringing me up in Special Forces when I was a young Captain use to drill into my head that 'excellence is not an option with anything you do. Do it right, do it on time, and do it better than anyone else.'
In many side-by-side tests with my other saws, I have gotten the most consistent accuracy and feel the most confident with the Bad Axe. It is now the saw I reach for. The Bad Axe saw is a tool with a soul, but in this case it is a characteristically American one. This is born of the personal commitment of its maker, Mark Harrell, a man who has spent much of his life serving America.
Mark, you are the first sawmaker who has gotten me to put my rip dozuki on the shelf and leave it there. Really, this Bad Axe Hybrid Dovetail/Small Tenon saw is the most versatile backsaw I have ever used. The amazing aspect is not only how many tasks it can do, but how well it does them.
This is the saw I recommend if you are working with small to moderate size projects and want to own only one backsaw that must be as versatile as possible but that will never be displaced by more specialized backsaws as you expand your tool kit.Well Mark, my Copperhead killer arrived today and I was reminded from last year (at WIA) how awesome your saws are.

I often get emails from people asking that age 'ol question--"If I only buy one saw then what should it be?"--well let me honestly say that this is the answer. A back saw filed crosscut but rips as good if not better than some of my dedicated rip saws from other manufacturers. I'm certainly not trying to slag or disrespect any other hand saw manufacturers out there but the proof is in the pudding.
I could not be more pleased with the nest of saws Mark hooked me up with. Four original Bad Axe back saws in two sizes, each in a rip and xc version. Customised to my taste, how cool is that? Plus two vintage hand saws that got the Bad Axe treatment to complete the collection. For now that is. These Bad Axe saws are so yummie I dare you to just buy one and keep it at that, just ain't gonna happen!

I am known as a had tool enthusiast and people often ask for my hand tool recommendations. I was saddened to see this business become so overtly political as to assert that only people with one political view should be allowed to participate free commerce in this country. It is sadder to see that a business wold promote and support economic retaliation for political activity. One can only expect as good as they are willing to give.
With that in mind I will no longer recommend their products or services to others. I was planning on attending their week long class on saw reconditioning after the
