Darwin has the best sandwiches in all of Central NY. The constantly changing menu keeps things fresh and pushes you to have new experiences (which are all excellent) as you wait for the return of your… favorites. The service is fast and the friendliest around. The sides, soups and chips are just as good as the sandwiches. I drive half an hour pretty regularly just to get Darwin for myself or to treat the office. If you haven’t gone (or not gone recently)….what are you waiting for?

I can't decide if the place is underrated or so popular that it need not be recommended aloud. Either way I'm glad I finally tried it. They have 5 types sandwiches (chicken, pork, beef, veggie, Italian) and the flavors are constantly switching up. Delicious yet fast and simple. Pastabilities stretch bread works the best but they also have regular sliced gluten free bread.

Always a joy going to Darwin's. The staff are awesome and always make me laugh. Food is fresh and comes out the kitchen quickly. I love the menu options and always enjoy tasting new combos. Went to Darwin for lunch today and was pleased to see they had a lobster roll on the menu today. It was very good and larger than a typical lobster roll. Price wasn't bad either $17. Menu changes constantly and their choices are excellent.

I don't make it to Darwin's very often, because honestly, I'm not downtown during the day much anymore and it can be a challenge to get there during their operating hours. Just doesn't gel with my schedule, you know? A few weeks ago I had the motivation and opportunity to change that. I stopped by right after they opened, and was the only one in the shop. Service was ridiculously fast. Literally, I ordered and immediately after the bag was in my hand. As if they read my mind. My favorite sandwich/lunch place. I just wish their hours weren’t limited so I could eat there more! The new menu every 2 weeks always has multiple things I love. The staff are some of the nicest people you’ll meet. They remember and treat everyone so well. The sandwiches are made so quickly, usually the wait is less than 3-5 minutes.

Super efficient and friendly. Had my sandwich, chips and a drink in my hand when the guy handed me the credit card receipt. Got the chicken sandwich with lemon aoli and marmalade. It was good. The stretch bread was delicious. But be warned that the bread can make the sandwich a little messier, so lean over the plate.

I just paid $70 for 4 of the worst sandwiches I have ever bought. The cheese was almost non-existent on all sandwiches; the sandwiches were already cold when I picked them up; the chicken breast was obviously boiled not grilled; the listed other ingredients on the sandwiches were hardly visible let alone part of the taste, and the sandwiches were smaller than pre-pandemic. No photo - I threw it away and didn't eat it.

Description vs what I got
It seems like they’re running out of ingredients since the menu changes every two weeks and this was one of the last days. I used to love Darwin’s but I had to throw this away. Also the young woman who answered the phone did not seem to know the menu which made ordering difficult. 4 out of 5 of us who ordered food agreed the quality has gone down.

Definitely a quality lunch spot in the downtown area. I think they have a rotating sandwich menu with a variety of sides available. I tried the Maryland Monroe, which is their chicken sandwich. It was very good and ready super fast. I enjoyed the bread as it was like a baguette. Only giving 4 stars because I didn't love it and I can't pinpoint why. Staff was very friendly.

This is such a great lunch spot downtown that is popular with my office because it has something for everyone - always a chicken, beef, pork, seafood and veggie sandwich, but their menu rotates every couple of weeks so it isn't boring. They have fun names and imaginative ingredients. And I hear their lobster mac & cheese is amazing!
