My ladder rack broke last year and I've used their service to get it fixed for 80 bucks. It recently broke again and they were asking for 140 bucks. I've explained that I got it fixed for 80 bucks at their place and would like to fix it for the same price. They started yelling and threatening me to call the police; Very unprofessional, rude, overpriced, and ill-mannered. I recently saw a similar review regarding a rack. I believe they have no clue how to fix a rack nor charge a reasonable price. Would never come back

A crack had developed in the center stand of my scooter, and there was room for improvement by adding some additional welds. I called to see if I could get the center stand welded, and Don said to bring it over. Don said he would fix the crack and also said he would do the additional welds to strengthen the center stand. The cost was very reasonable, and Don did an excellent job repairing and reinforcing the center stand.

Needed some brackets welded onto a car part. Called late in the day and spoke to Sue who asked me to send an email with some pics and a scope of work. Got a response back first thing in the morning confirming they can do the work. Went in and spoke to Don who was very observant and detail oriented. He gave me an estimate and told me to come back in an hour to pick up the part. He gave me a call in 50 minutes telling me my part was done, and ready for pick up, and even better news the project didn't take as long as expected and charged me less than he quoted which was a fair price. I have a small inflatable boat with two welding joints recently broken off under the seat. It is a small job, but Don is quick to respond to my email request, and ask me to bring in my boat to provide a quote and fix it right away. His staff is friendly and professional. The charge is very reasonable.

I brought them a small stainless steel job which required mitering, welding and cleaning. I needed to make up a dog protector for a large sliding screen door (see pic). The work was done quickly and well. The two folks I dealt with (one over the phone and the other in person) to explain and execute my order were friendly.
Here's why I only give it 4 stars - the person in the office I dealt with (I inferred she is part of the family which owns the place) for payment etc was chatty but she made it clear she didn't like how little I was charged for the work. Rather than keeping this

First ever online review of anything ever. The reason that I'm taking the time to do one for Drake Welding is because the customer service and final product, were exceptional. American made product, built exceeding expectations, friendly customer service & follow-up, and the pricing is very fair considering the craftsmanship. If this were a 10 star rating system, I would give them an 11!

I left a message after hours for Drake Welding to see if they could help me with a very small job, fixing a bolt on my son's baby seat carrier. Before 8am the next morning Susan called me to say "of course they could help, just come on over". Within 5 minutes of arriving Don had the job done. The two safety bars I originally had were not long enough so I needed more length. Upon arriving, I was politely greeted by Don, who I believe is the owner. He was very courteous and gave me an exact quote. 115 per hour for labor, plus materials etc. The total cost would be anywhere between 450-785 or something of that nature.
Now I'm always a bit cautious b/c you will never know how long a project will take. That being said, Don called me

I took my truck to Drake Welding to get a custom designed truck rack built. I provided the design. Don at Drake reviewed the design and suggested modifications. Working together we came up with a modified design which was better. Then Drake built the rack to the design specifications. The rack is perfect, thanks to Drake Welding and Don.
As to the workload, I too had read in previous reviews that Drake Welding has more work than they can handle. However, I consider that a symptom of good work well done, in contrast to bad attitude.

Based on my experience, I'll save prospective customers and Drake some time. This is NOT a welding/fabrication shop to approach with small jobs. I prepared an isometric drawing that was fully dimensioned and provided it to Drake. I needed 4 parts made. It was made very clear, meaning, directly told to me that Drake has plenty of work to do and that my small job was not of interest. As a consumer, I found the tone of the discussion to be downright disrespectful.
Me: "I understand that you don't want to make these parts. Do you know any shops that can?"
Drake: "Yeah

Quality work. Fast Turn-around. Great price. Friendly service.
I went to Drake for some needed mods on a tow hitch extension. I was looking for completion the next day.
The staff was friendly and knowledgable. The crew did great work, got it done on time and did it in a quality manner.
