Mutual Materials
We were founded in 1900 as Builders Brick Company with one plant located in Seattle. Since then, our company has grown and our name has changed but we still value creating quality products that continue to build beauty that lasts. Today, we are the largest family-owned supplier of masonry and hardscape products in the Pacific Northwest with operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Western Canada.

As a local family owned and operated company with fifth-generation family leadership, Mutual Materials was founded in 1900 by Daniel Houlahan as Builders Brick Company. Following the Great Seattle Fire of 1890, our brick literally rebuilt Seattle and can be seen in many historic buildings today. As our company grew and expanded with new product lines and new geographic locations, the company name changed to Mutual Materials in the 1960's.
Services
Our customers build inviting communities, homes & yards that stand the test of time using masonry and hardscape products from Mutual Materials. From old world to contemporary, a hardscape paver patio can lend a distinctive tone to the character of your outdoor living space. Many designers are now using retaining walls to convert hillsides into usable space, adding seating walls, or creating vertical gardens.
Our products are sold throughout the United States across hundreds of locations which include our Mutual Materials branches and a large network of dealers. Our customers include commercial and residential architects, designers, builders, landscape professionals and private homeowners. Mutual Materials branches are open to the public.
Mutual Materials' purpose is Building Beauty that Lasts, and we are looking for people who are excited about creating products that build the communities that we work and live in. Since 1900, Mutual has been supplying the materials that have built the Pacific Northwest from suburban neighborhoods to bustling downtowns and we are now building our team to position us for the next 100 years.
Our wide range of masonry products make it easy for you to design aesthetically and still meet every functional requirement, while our hardscape products can help you create the ideal landscape. Brick, blended brick, structural brick, Slimbrick tiles, concrete masonry units (CMU), and thin veneer stone for virtually any masonry project.
Whether your project calls for brick, blended brick, structural brick, concrete masonry units (CMU), blended CMU, manufactured stone or natural stone, Mutual Materials is the supplier you can rely on. We offer a multitude of colors, shapes and textures in each of our masonry product lines, so your projects are limited only by your imagination.

Called with a random request for some obscure pavers from an obscure company. Every other company I called (and I called them all) had no idea what do with it. Chris at Mutual Materials Bellevue tracked it down in less than 15 minutes... Great customer service.

You guys need to train your truck drivers on how to stay in their own lane. I’ve seen drivers with bigger trucks being able to do so. Your drivers are going to cause an accident

Ordered a certain color of pavers and had them delivered. Only a third of the pavers were the color I ordered. I called and they said it was probably the dye then after some digging they said we were delivered the wrong product. I wouldn't recommend.

They are very helpful, if getting paving or wall products why go to the home stores, buy direct from manufacturer and get a discount and much better information

These people are awesome!

I built a 120 x 4 foot retaining wall on my property and they saved me thousands of $$$ by mentioning a color of retaining block that was discontinued. They were the perfect blocks for the job and a great price all delivered to the site in a very nice clean truck and a helpful friendly driver. I'm so impressed with their professionalism - from the moment I walked in the door and Melissa jumped right in to help me - to the last delivery this afternoon in a crazy rainstorm. Thank you guys! Nice work!

I have no idea where this Timmothy idiot gets off blasting

I'm a contractor and went in looking for a simple masonry repair product: in this case a Sika product or equivalent what I got from order desk ladies was..deer-in-the-headlights. I further explained what I was doing..again blank stare..yard kid stated.."how about just mortar" um no jr. I need a no slump "repair" product..I went to Hillsboro to Mason's Supply instead they had several products ..I'm not sure why MM has know nothing's on their order desk..better off driving to Hillsboro or Home Depot

Have to go in for samples quite often, and they are always fairly nice to me. They work mostly with contractor types so when "a designer" comes in...(the link between the customer and contractor) it is a little bit of different dynamic. If you need brick, blocks, cultured stone or pavers, this is a decent place to go at least to look. I have heard the Vancouver store is much larger.
