Long term services (home attendant or also known as a home provider) are paid by Medicaid or a Medicaid waiver. A Medicaid Waiver is administered through the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) or the Texas Department of State Health Services (for children). Long term services are also paid by Managed Care Organizations.
1. PCS: Personal Care Services: A Medicaid benefit that helps children and adults 20 and younger who have disabilities. We help the clients with everday tasks. These tasks are called activities of daly living and instrumental activities of daily living. Live in a community-based intermediate care facility for individuals with an intellectual disability or related condition (ICF/IID) or nursing facility.
Primary Home Care is a growing field. It is estimated that in the next 20 years, 85% of people living in nursing homes will be cared for "in their own homes." I used Mi Casa for services for my mother. The attendant they sent was excellent. She was very attentive, caring and provided my mother all the services needed. The house was always kept immaculate, her meals were healthy and delicious not to mention the company she kept with my mother. I highly recommend this agency.
