Services
Summy's Catering started in 1990, when we, Joe and Elsie Summy, started to bake bread and pies for Yoder's Country Market in Pratts, VA. For 13 years we did this alongside our dairy business. In 2003 we sold the dairy cows and switched to beef cows as well as added a full service catering business to our bakery.
Summy's Catering is without a doubt the best catering I've ever had. I would recommend them to anyone. Joe and Elsie are the sweetest couple and they will make you want to go live in their kitchen. My wife and I had them cater our wedding at The Old Silk Mill in downtown Fredericksburg. Our wedding spread included everything from pulled pork to an exquisite chocolate trifle, all at an incredibly reasonable price.
The dinner meal includes two meat options, vegetable, potato side, salad, bread, dessert, coffee and two beverage options. All meals include quality paper-ware (white plates, cups, wrapped plastic-ware, and napkins with each order). Menus can be altered by suggestion or with your favorite recipe to suit your dining needs.

The food was good.
However, when the event was over the food that was not eaten was supposed to be left for the family. That was discussed a few times.
There was food for 100 people and only served 60.
How can there be no food leftover? That's what we were told.
We are not the only ones who have had this problem.
I do recommend their services because the food was good. But make sure you get what you paid for.

Booked them for a 10/31/20 wedding and the food was absolutely delicious. There was ample portions served and plenty of leftovers. Everything was fantastic. The meal was served hot and fresh and we were even given the option to have it served earlier than our 7 pm time. We got the roast beef and gravy, fried chicken, tossed salad, rolls, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes instead of dessert. The punch was fantastic as well. We have had several guests tell us that our wedding food was the best wedding meal they've had in a long time

We had booked them for a wedding that had to be postponed due to Covid. We instead had them do the rehearsal dinner this past weekend. The food was outstanding !!! Everyone commented on how perfectly seasoned it was . The amount of food you receive is unbelievable. We will definitely use them again. Before you contract your next catering company, you should talk with Summy’s first. Excellent service and food. And we also like the fact that we are supporting another small business 😊

Our wedding was in May with about 50 guests. The catering was extremely reasonably priced and the family that runs the business are so nice. We had compliments from everyone on how delicious the food was! The steak was juicy and tender, the chicken was flavorful and could be cut with a fork and all of the sides were so tasty! Highly recommend Summy's to anyone who needs a delicious meal for a group of people (large or small) for any occasion!

Approximately 40 years had gone by since I had seen Elsie. I'm sure she didn't remember me well. I was her younger sister's age. After hearing from my Mom's cousin that we were coming and I had remarked, "I would love to see Elsie!"....they invited us and other friends over for Sunday evening supper. They had been busy catering the day before. I'm sure they were ready for some time to themselves. Instead they served us the most wonderful 'leftovers'.
