I love the atmosphere and the wood fired 🍕 margarita pizza . Nicks has been serving customers a very long time. My 40th birthday party here with family and friends 22 years ago and it was fabulous. It still is.
The whole world changed though. Now it could take longer to place an order and you might need to wait at pick-up because people are doing many tasks all at once.
I’m not sitting around bars drinking either but some people do and take out is collected at the chic-boutique, side bar between the deli and the restaurant. There are tables to space out but most people cluster at the counter

Ordered a pizza and salad to pickup. Arriving at 6:15pm when asked to pick it up. The pizza was stone cold, no napkins or utensils provided. Staying in a hotel so was hard to eat. Even the pizza was sliced in quarters so to eat by hand difficult. The pizza tasted good. By now with the our new lives under covid you would think if offering takeout they could do a better job.

Pros:friendly waiter, good drinks, tasty chocolate torte (think almond joy) and the radicchio salad was good
Con:main entrees were disappointing. I had the hen which was on the dry side. The vegetable was overly charred to the point where I felt like I was eating a cigarette. I ate 1/3 of the hen and then nothing else. My partner said his pasta was so-so. Overall we could've probably made a better meal at home but it was nice to get out of the house.
I have had their minestrone soup previously which was good.

Restaurants are, of course, judged by their food. They should also be judged by customer service. We were walk-ins on a Thursday, stood there for 10 minutes with no acknowledgement of our existence. It would have been nice for someone to say, "this empty table is spoken for. We have no availability at this time." We left after being ignored. Bad manners!

Very authentic Italian restaurant! Great location if you are coming back from a long day of wine tasting. My top choices were margarita pizza, bianca pizza, and lasagna. We enjoyed the outdoor side walk seating since the side walk wasn’t too crowded. Our server was really nice and attentive during our dining experience.

We went to Nick's on a Thursday night (when 3rd street is completely closed to traffic, love it) and sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful meal. We started with a bottle of Loire Cab Franc and it was absolutely delicious with the entire meal.
For appetizer, we got the steamed mussels and they were to die for. The mussels were one of the biggest I've ever seen and they tasted absolutely delicious in the well balanced tomato broth. For mains, I got the tortelli stuffed with mushrooms and ricotta and my husband ordered the pork and spinach ravioli and they were both extremely delicious.

What a nice find on our trip to McMinnville. Very upscale Italian fare at fair prices.
The restaurant is small, but here's a tip, you can sit in the bar/Italian deli next door, have a nice local glass of wine and still, order off the Nick's menu.
The food is luxurious and all pasta is made by hand in house. We had the soft and pillowy ravioli gently stuffed with ground pork and spinach. Dredged in a subtle butter/sage sauce and dusted with Parmesan, the flavors were outstanding without being heavy.
If pasta is not your fave, we had an amazing lemony game hen with charred broccolini

Delicious food; excellent service. We sat outside on a warm evening, selecting a Pinot noir from their very extensive list. Our Caesar salad with added anchovies was a perfect way to start. We all agreed that the rich lasagna with homemade sausage and bechamel was wonderful as were the other pasta dishes. Although we normally don't care for desserts, we couldn't pass up the rosemary biscotti with Gorgonzola dolce for a sweet, salty, savory finish to our dinner. Thank you to the restaurant's friendly staff and Tamara, the unofficial mayor of the neighborhood, for a memorable

Honestly, the food was the problem here. Which for a restaurant is not a good thing. There wasn't quite enough of the ravioli - and I struggled to find the pork. The charred broccoli rabe was so incredibly bitter it was practically inedible. The service was good and my water remained filled, but based on the food I would not come back here.

I took my grandparents to Nick's while they were in town after a previously pleasant experience. It was during the crazy heatwave and we were grateful that they were open. They had no AC that day which was a bummer since it was 100 degrees outside, but oh well, things happen. We ordered the rigatoni, the ravioli and the sausage pizza.
The pizza had a nice flavor but was cold by the time it reached the table. The ravioli was underwhelming. The worst of it, however, was the rigatoni. It was bland, overcooked, and all around awful. The sauce was barely noticeable, very watery, and unappealing

Great meal for the four of us. We spent a very leisurely dinner there, ordering one course at a time, and service and timing was excellent. Every dish was very good, the olives, Caesar, mussels, game hen, tagliatelle, and pork, but the stand out to me was the ravioli. After spending a year of my life making commercial pasta, I know a great hand rolled dish when I see one, and indeed it is delicious. This was the third time eating here for me, I visit McMinnville once a year, and two of my companions eat there regularly, and give the 'everything on the menu is great' recommendation.

We had a great experience at Nick's Italian Cafe. After a great afternoon of wine tasting, Nick's was the perfect place to settle into a decadent carb love fest. As simple as it sounds, their bread and olive oil starter was amazing! If the menu wasn't full of incredible options, we might have sat there for hours enjoying that amazing combo. Alas, main courses called and in particular, the Dungeness crab lasagna, which has been on the menu since the 70s showed a level of perfection that only decades of craftsmanship can deliver. Wonderful deserts and a great wine list perfectly complement

Couple hours ago had the BEST restaurant meal I'd had in a long time, at Nick's Italian Cafe. How can you make ravioli dough (spinach ricotta filling, with sage butter sauced) so thin and light? This has been on the menu since Nick's opened 42 years ago, his grandmother's recipe. Excellent service. The puttanesca sauce was fine, the taglatelle and the breads. Were going to eat at another place in McMinnville, coming back from the coast, and there was Nick's, which I've been hearing about for decades. All the indoor tables were reserved, but was such a fine night to

What a wonderful meal we had at Nick's Italian Cafe! Outdoor seating and social spacing made the evening a great and safe dinner destination. We each had the beet and arugula salad with goat cheese and vinaigrette. We shared a pizza and had dessert with coffee. Really great atmosphere and terrific service!

We have now eaten at Nick's or taken food to go about a dozen times over a couple years and multiple varieties to the Willamette. The food is consistently delicious, well-balanced and affordable. The staff always take good care of us and are knowledgeable and kind. It's no wonder it's been a McMinville fixture for decades!

We did not have reservations; but there were lots of open tables. Was told there would be a 5- minute wait so they could prepare a table... right!
Food was very good, although the flavors were not what I anticipated. I had the spinach and pork ravioli. The flavor was great, but was more of butter than spinach.
Meal was expensive. Should be $$$, not $$.
