In my grandmother's kitchen sat a hen. Not a real hen of course, not even a hen with legs or little feet. But this hen had a heart, a heart reflective of the love and care that touched all culinary pursuits originating in that kitchen. The hen relentlessly eyed that kitchen as only an inanimate hen can, with all its smells, the conversations, the people, the food.
Babica Hen puts on top-notch private events after hours in the evenings. Our well-appointed space is ideal for all social and business gatherings. Be it a rehearsal dinner, holiday party, cocktail gathering, seminar, birthday party, after-hours meeting or absolutely any other special occasion, we will work hard to make sure you and your guests have a splendid time.
Recently we implemented an 18% service charge in lieu of traditional tipping to more equitably distribute gratuities to our entire team, many of whom have been completely devastated from the pandemic. It is a policy we had aimed to implement for some time, and the current environment made the decision inevitable as we saw an already broken system cast an even brighter light on the inequities.
Babica Hen seats on a first come, first serve basis. If you're coming with a party of 8 or more we will work to accommodate your group in advance. To make a group accommodation please call the location directly. We do our best to assist with as many donation requests as we possibly can, and we appreciate you thinking of us for your auction or event.

Unique and unexpected combinations that are mouthwatering and delicious. These waffles with a mascarpone made with sweet potato, coconut, and caramel, were to die for. The ricotta pancakes were so soft and delectable. The coffee was excellent and so were the mimosas. Then there are giant cinnamon rolls and sticky buns.😋

I was going to do 1 star but the server brought it up one. Service was good. They add 18% to your bill and claim now to share it with all. Guess they didn't share tips before? Or is it to guarantee tip no matter how bad the food? And on top of that, they charge too much for the quality of the food. I get better eggs Benedict at a dive bar and for a lot less. The tiny bit of Hollandaise sauce was very thin and weak. The biscuit was soggy. One of the eggs was nice and runny and the other one barely. The potatoes cooked too quickly. They would have tasted better as baked potatoes with sour cream etc

An amazingly simple place with a fantastic limited fare of breakfast and lunch that is self prepared and served by a bunch of warm and peppy people.
The place is superbly welcoming and the teas as well as choice of food is refreshing. This place is pet friendly and doesnot take table reservations in advance. Getting a table on weekends might take sometime. But we went there for lunch on a weekday just to ensure we got enough of the place. Ample parking available.

The food here is incredible. If you are okay with "just okay" service and are willing to sacrifice the dining experience for the food this is a great place for breakfast. Today I dined here this morning for breakfast and sat outside. The patio is really comfortable and with the break in heat, dining outside this morning was extremely enjoyable.
The food and drinks here are both amazing. The service left more to be desired. Because we didn't order immediately when we were seated it seemed like our waitress completely wrote us off. She walked by our table dozens of times over about a 20 minute period

We went there as excited patrons but left as extremely disappointed customers. The menu is well thought out, food taste is okay but the execution was shoddy. We probably visited them when they were having a bad day. If you charge 18% gratuity by default, we expect top notch service and what we got was very unprofessional. Here is a list of things this outing forgettable rather than memorable:
1) Major feedback: Braised beef waffle had to be returned once to the kitchen. We specifically asked for the dish to be served without blue cheese. The first plate came with a generous amount of blue cheese

Great food and good service! We chose this for breakfast because of the wide variety of choices on their menu. From sweet to savory, they had something for everyone, including the kiddos. We had a fairly large party and they were very accommodating. They brought the kids pictures to color with markers. They brought sides of ketchup and hot sauce for everyone. The hot sauce is very yummy! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I would go back here for breakfast and I would like to come back and try their lunch menu. I definitely recommend checking this spot out!

Visiting Portland on a weekend trip and stumbled into this place - What a Gem!!!
We came around 9 on a Saturday morning and there were crowd waiting outside already. Waited 25 mins for the table and it’s totally worthy! I had the waffler - half Braised beef over waffle and half chocolate banana waffle, I honestly can eat these all day long. Husband got the chorizo gravy schnitzel, I never had chorizo gravy before and boy have I been missing out!
I came so close to get the sticky bun cause it looks amazing and it’s humongous, maybe I’ll stop by tomorrow to get it.

Babica Hen Cafe brings the flavor, the presentation and the options on the menu. I have gone to the Dundee location before they closed and really enjoyed the food and menu. Since that location post Covid is no longer open, we ventured to Lake Oswego to have brunch on a Sunday.
