Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve is a small family-owned and operated company that began as a hobby born out of a concern about the synthetic ingredients in skincare products and the adverse effects of these ingredients on our skin, our children and our environment. In my "prior lives" I was a registered nurse, earned a master's degree in biology and later, taught middle school science. As my career experiences in medicine and science evolved, I became increasingly concerned about how many chemicals were present in our skin care products and the adverse effects these chemicals were having on us, our children and our planet.

Their products smell great and feel amazing on my skin. I bought their bamboo face soap, pomegranate face oil, and mint mist deodorant. My acne-prone face has been clean and mosturized without any breakouts, with my skin adjusting to these products immediately! I must also say I love how helpful their website is in choosing the right products for you. Each one of the employees is a treasure trove of knowledge and advice as well. This is a local business I support not just because it's local, but because its products are truly better than any big-name ones I've used.

2nd update- my hair has been washed with only chagrin valley soap bars for over 1.5 years. My hair feels extremely soft and healthy. I barely wash or comb it and get compliments just about monthly. It's just boring straight middle aged hair, but it feels brand new!! I will never buy or use commercial bottled plastic chemical filled liquid shampoo again. I have been using the camp soap for my face and hands, with beautiful results. Save the earth, buy chagrin valley products.

My husband and I started using their shampoo bars a few months ago, and we will never go back to bottled shampoo! We love that we don't use plastic, and the shampoo bars work great. It takes some time to detox your hair, but once that's done it's wonderful! We love these products so much we just ordered their face soap, lotion, and shaving products. Highly suggest!

I have been using their products for over 7 years. Only thing I use for washing my hair. It is great knowing I helping myself without dangerous ingredients. Love their bars for your body too.
I can even read the ingredients too!
I first began with their animal products for washing my dogs. It was really nice to know that if they licked themselves while being bathed it would not be toxic. Then I tried their shampoos and deodorants and etc.
I hope they will continue making such great products! Really quick orders too. Shopping with them is a pleasure!

I have been using the soaps and shampoos for over a year and am extremely happy that I found this company. I live in southern CA, and have not been able to find anyone locally who makes anything that compares to Chagrin Valley products. Although I have to pay shipping costs, overall, I pay less for my soaps and shampoos than I did when I bought commercial beauty products. The selling point though is that Chagrin Valley products are all natural and have absolutely no chemicals that are harmful to our bodies--unlike most commercial products.

I love this company and their products. I started with them about a year ago when I wanted to switch to all natural shampoo soaps, because I lived in a hard water area, which required SOO many products to make my hair "normal". Not only does Chagrin Valley have an AWESOME selection of hair and body products, I've tried many, and they are ALL so good. I had to take notes of which I liked best because there are so many that are so good.
The prices are fair to me, too, because the soaps last as long as you expect... sometimes it seems longer than my usual commercial body soap bars.

Really great company and products. I love the goats milk and oat soap for my face, deodorant, and babbassu marshmallow shampoo bar for my natural hair. I like that I can use products for myself and my family that I trust are safe and don't contain all of the chemicals/preservatives that commercially made products do.

I love their products. It took my hair a few washes to get all the chemical residue out from using commercial shampoo but once that happened my hair felt and looked amazing. Their deodorant is mind blowing. It works great and being such a small container and I had it for months before i lost it traveling and it wasn't even half gone yet. You really don't need much. My hair when it was long took about one shampoo bar a month but as amazing as it makes my hair it is well worth it.
