We offer Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Adult dance classes for both the recreational, competition, and pre-professional dancer.

The Executive Artistic Director, Joan Christensen, established the Joan Lynn Dance Center and Company in 1986 which has been providing quality dance education in Hamden and the Greater New Haven area, and we are excited for our 35th Anniversary Season!
Our professional faculty, staff, and curriculum offers a diverse range of subjects and styles for the recreational dancer as well as the dancer who wishes to attain a pre-professional level of training, in all disciplines.The goal of the Joan Lynn Dance Center for the young dancer is to introduce them to the technique and music of dance through developed programs that are created to allow them to have fun while learning.

The Joan Lynn Dance Company is a group of dedicated dancers who wish to share their dancing and love of performance within their community. This group was created for the dancer who wished to expand their dance education beyond normal classes. The performances are for charity and fund raising events as well as 2 competitions per year.
Our camp is a fun, motivational program that combines learning choreography while building your skills in flexibility, stretching and technique. Whether you are new to dance or have been taking lessons, our program can help you learn the basics with the use of new teaching techniques or to help you brush up the skills you have.

Between both of my daughters we have been at The Joan Lynn Dance Company for almost 20 years. The studio has become like family and the teachers are the best around. They give 110% to the students and strive to give them the best dance education while also making personal connections that allow the students to consider the studio their 2nd home. Professionally run for 35 years!
