At the time, French Canadian immigrants were laboring in the mills along the banks of the city's Amoskeag River in hopes of achieving a better quality of life for themselves and their families.

Over the past couple of years, anytime my husband or myself have gone to this bank, EVERY time, they have royally screwed up the simplest of transactions like a withdrawal or a transfer, even when we've spelled out the account numbers etc and given our ID's. It's ridiculous! They need to stop hiring idiotic teenagers and hire people that actually know what they are doing!! We won't go to this branch ever again!

Today I went in and used the ATM to withdraw some cash before going to the tellers. I accidentally left my card in the ATM and a very nice lady came in and turned it in. I immediately looked in my purse and realized it was my card, told them the name on the card, and they refused to give it back to me. The only explanation they gave was that "it's a bank rule" because it was not a St Mary's Bank card. One of them questioned me as if it was not my card even though I provided the details, and gave me attitude when I inquired about why she would not hand me back MY CARD. I still do not understand

So I rushed all the way from the middle of Manchester to deposit money into my vehicle payment and I get there 10 minutes before close and they have a “temporary closed sorry for any inconvenience” 10 minutes before they CLOSE they closed this is unacceptable to the fullest extent and I will be making a complaint. I rushed here like a chicken with its head cut of I will be switching to a different bank that actually works the hours it states.

So here's the deal, I read a lot of bad reviews but their interest rates for refinancing your vehicle were better than others I have found. The staff is definitely under trained, however nice. My experience seemed like they were winging it a bit. They hosed up my final payoff amount by about $200 for the refi, as well as misspelling my email, hence the lack of communications. I will say in the end they fixed the problem and payed off the difference for the refinance mistake. They made it right in the end.

Terrible terrible terrible.... Want a bank where you will sit on hold for 30 mins on the phone every time you have a question or need to report an account or card issue? St Marys is your bank! My 3 calls over the 6 months I've held an account here put me in line with 15, 54, and 38 callers ahead of me, respectively. Average wait time AT LEAST 30 min.
