Red River BJJ
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is known as the gentle art. Jiu-jitsu is a form of martial art that was rooted to focus on the smaller, weaker person. One of the founding fathers of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, started this art focusing on his children. All boys, but particularly one who was the smaller of all the boys and would normally get smashed by his bigger brothers.

He met a Japanese jiu-jitsu practitioner who taught them his art and he molded it to help his smaller boy to withstand the bigger boys. This is what evolved into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This man was Helio Gracie, one of the founding fathers of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and one of who introduced the art to millions of people around the world.
Services
Warm-up - In order to prevent injury, warm-up is achieved by calisthenics and different drills that will also assist in improving the person's jiu-jitsu, cardio, and endurance. Instruction - the coach will demonstrate a move and will break it down, step-by-step for the students. The coach will continue to demonstrate different variations of that move and will proceed depending on the skill level of the class.
The Lil FuFighter classes are held twice a week for 4 - 6 year olds in the War Room (Black Mats) at Red River BJJ. We will only accept 12 children in this age group, so sign up now to claim your spot. Once spots are full we will begin a waiting list. The Lil FuFighter classes will consist of fun movements that will help your child become accustomed to the basic movements in jiu-jitsu.
No-Gi classes are aimed for a more realistic approachc to self defense. The student normally wears shorts and a rashguard instead of the traditional uniform (Gi). When the student wears the Gi, students can pull, push or control their opponents by using the Gi for gripping.

Without a Gi the student uses wrestling style grips (behind the head, wrists, ankles, etc.) since they cannot grab clothing, this style can be a bit more challenging since grips can be slippery and the student relies on more technique to control and submit their opponent. We offer no-gi classes every Tuesday for kids and adults.
The goal for this class is to tackle weight loss and learn self-defense at the same time. The class will consist of a warm-up with drills that will help with cardio, conditioning and self-defense. After the warm up, the coach will show a self-defense/jiu-jitsu move and everybody will practice it. Once the students are comfortable with the basic moves, we will close class with a live grappling session to incorporate all the moves learned.
The kickboxing/conditioning class is an MMA style class that focuses on punches, knees, kicks, elbows and takedowns. Conditioning is very important to keep up with the high intensity of kickboxing and jiu-jitsu, so conditioning drill will be added during class. Equipment such as knee pads, punching gloves, hand wraps are used.

Very welcoming environment. I've been training here with my 9 yo nephew for 6 months and it already feels like family. The lessons are planned with structure and there are several classes throughout the week with various times so anyone and any schedule can find times to train. They also have Coaches from all backgrounds that add their own twist on teaching and techniques, its hands down the best place to learn martial arts in the falls as a family.

So as a brand new white belt who had only been training for just under three months at my home gym in Corpus Christi, Tx., I was pretty apprehensive about starting at a new gym out of town. I kind of drug my feet a bit just because I was so nervous about this decision but finally last week I got myself into Red River BJJ and I honestly regret not starting earlier.
They have a very clean gym, nice mat, knowledgeable staff and good location. Red River BJJ is a family oriented gym. Period. And I love that because eventually my family will join me up here and I have my wife and five year old son who

Absolutely a great training environment. I was only in town for a few weeks, but everyone there was great to train with. Professor Ben is so knowledgeable and very down to earth.
Coaches Justin, Aaron, and Vanessa are also great instructors. I learned little details about moves I have known that increased my success rate quite a bit.
I would recommend to anyone training or wanting to get started to give Red River BJJ a shot. The gym is kept incredibly clean and sanitized.

Red River Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an amazing place to train!! The atmosphere is great, it’s so family friendly. My husband, myself, and my 5 year old all train. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s like a home away from home. My son loves the kids class, Coach Vanessa really connects with the kids. The women’s class is amazing. It’s one of the highlights of my week. The regular adults class is just as great. Everybody really treats you like family. If you are looking for a great place to learn a new skill, lose weight, or gain more confidence Red River BJJ is the place for you!
