Chocolate Moose is proudly a brick and mortar store, locally owned and operated since 1978. The store's products are constantly changing, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. Our merchandise includes objects of art and handcrafted jewelry, Belgian chocolate, amazingly unique greeting cards, baby toys, and some seriously tacky items.

If you like funny, quirky cards and cute unique gifts this is the place for you! The Chocolate Moose serves up deliciously sly humor along side some of the best Belgian chocolate you'll ever get your hands on outside of Belgium. Come in and enjoy shopping in the kind of store that's rare these days - a happiness store.

This place is trying to do too much. While I'm sure there could possibly be a way to juggle a chocolate shop, a card section, a jewelry section, a travel section, and little trinkets all under one small roof in an elegant way, this place feels like a very fragmented experience. I feel like the only time I'd buy something here is if I was searching for a white elephant gift.

I work nearby, so I've been to the Moose several times since I wrote my first, very clipped review. I do think this is still THE place to buy nick-nacks and silly greeting cards. If you need a white elephant gift, this is the place to come. However, I've been less than impressed with the attitude of the staff in my last couple visits.
I went in and bought an Enviro-Sac bag a while back. The girl at the check out counter asked if I wanted a bag. I giggled, since the only thing I was buying was a bag. "Uh, no I don't want a bag for my bag..." She was not amused. Not sure how you can work in a place

I love this store. It's perfect for finding politically incorrect or hysterical (depending on your leaning here) charged cards that are just about perfect and en pointe in the DC metro area. I love that you can get anything from Bush "dum gum" to make your own legwarmer kits at this store. This is one of my favorite places to hit for odds and ends to send to that person you want to know you're thinking of them for a special occasion but they seem to have everything under the sun they could possibly need. Chances are they won't need what you'll find, but they'll love it!
