It started to become a reality when the five wooded acres adjacent to Interstate 57 were purchased in 1997. As soon as the concrete walls of the basement production area were poured in the fall of 1998, we had four 1500 gallon stainless steel wine tanks lifted in by crane so the floor system of the tasting room above could be started.

Stopped by with my mother bc we wanted to check out the Filipino food truck that was there today! Checked their wines out before getting our food and was pleasantly surprised at the variety and knowledge of staff. Also to note very warm and accommodating staff! The black and blue wine was amazing along with a few others we tried. Ended up buying 2 bottles along with our late lunch at the truck. A ton of shaded seating and a music was also going on outside! Can't wait to spend time here next go round.

Absolutely love this place!! The guy that helped us was extremely sweet and was very knowledgeable on the wine that was offered! Being new to wine tasting he was able to help us pick out wines for our flight that we would like. We were able to sample 3 wines before picking out our flight wines. We sat outside on the cute little porch to enjoy them. It was also right off the highway which was nice since since we are on a road trip. Overall loved this place and the customer service was fenomenal.

Stopped in quickly for a few drinks. No employees were wearing masks. All of our party was wearing masks. Staff seemed annoyed to see us. Bartender refused service to our 30 year old friend whose license had technically expired (but which was ironic because there's a state mask requirement and the Secretary of State has extended license validity throughout the covid -19 disaster; basically, it was illegal to not wear masks but it's not illegal to serve to someone whose valid license expires during the pandemic).
We sampled a few wines, and only the fruity one was drinkable. Would get

A lovely stop for a break in traveling. Pheasant hollow winery allows dogs and we brought food to go with a large selection of wines to drink. We purchased a few bottles to take home with us. The porch has to be one if most relaxing and pleasant places to sit and sip wine I've been to in a long time.

Great, laid back atmosphere. The winery is set back in the woods and has a nice wrap around deck/outdoor seating area. The Black & Blue, Orange & Blue, Marion Berry, and Crackling Cranberry are our favorite wines. They also have a few craft beers on tap. The only thing this place lacks is food. We would have stayed longer if a menu was available.

Aside from the hours of operation, this is a pretty great place.
It's situated in the middle of nowhere, so when you see signs for it, you're probably ready for a driving break anyway. What better than to relax with a tasting. Lots of shade outside, and a big tasting area inside if you're that type of person. Park wherever, it don't matter.
The wines are all decent for the price, the tasting was informative (although the pours are small), and if they have any off-menu stuff you can probably try that gratis.
Really, it's a don't miss stop if you're

I walked out of here with 4 wines. And that's after eliminating a couple from the "like" list. Need I say more?
The deck has a pleasant shadow over it: you dont want to bake while sipping on liquor. Ever.
Bob was nice and engaged me with some cool conversation.
The only thing I didn't like: the hours. Who closes at 6 PM on Saturday??? A winery? It is not a child care! And I'm talking the long weekend, people!
Please, consider extending the hours/

Spur of the moment detour and a very pleasant surprise. Not far from the highway nestled in a patch of woods. Fall is a fabulous time to visit. Vibrant fall foliage and the smell of a fireplace make it homey. All wines tried were pleasant and leaned towards the sweeter side. Left with four bottles to enjoy.
The map icon is a little off. If exiting highway via 154 take a left vs right and then you will quickly see the sign on the left.

Pheasant Hollow is but one of the many wineries located in and around Southern Illinois. PHW was my last stop on the Shawnee Wine Trail. It did not disappoint. They have a wide variety of wines and most of them are pleasing to the pallet. The gentleman working the counter knew his stuff. He was also pleasant and down to earth. No pretension here.
The facilities are very nice. You can sit indoors or outside on the deck or the grounds. PHW also hosts a New Orleans themed fest. Check the website for details.
I ended up purchasing several bottles of the Ring Neck Red. This is a basic table red but
