At Robert Wilkemeyer, O.D., we strive to meet all of your eye and vision care needs. Corrective lens evaluations and prescription management are provided by our optometrist in Hinsdale. This is a 2 person operation, Dr Wilkemeyer and Kelly. Kelly is rude! She obviously has worked with the doctor for a long time where punishment is nonexistent. They do have a good selection of glasses to select, but don’t most eye establishments? Look a little further and find a more welcoming place.

Our family of 5 have all been seeing Dr. Wilkemeyer for years. He and Kelly have been taking great care of us and are very professional. They also wear the protective face coverings & gloves during this difficult time. At the spur of the moment my 90-year-old father-in-law sat on his glasses and broke them. I brought them in late on a Friday afternoon and Kelly pulled out her tools and happily fixed for free. I highly recommend this practice and am very grateful for Avenue Eyecare!

I read the reviews and was excited seeing all the high rated reviews and had to go! MAN WAS I WRONG.
Upon arrival, 5 min early, the doctor wasn't in the office. He actually pulled up to the office 7 min late, took his jacket off and told me to come on back. He asked me the reason for my visit, everything was normal, until he took my contacts off with his own fingers. This was just insane to me, I didn't feel comfortable him sticking his fingers into my eyes and have NEVER had an optometrist do this in the 24 years of my life. Even if he does do this, why doesn't he warn people

Love the knowledge and thorough examination from Dr. Bob I've received for 25 years. Very happy to have fashionable, beautiful for my face glasses even with my hard to fit lens prescription. Kelly helped me find the frames best for my face and helped me narrow it down to the best one. She also helped me with functional yet very attractive sunglasses for my lifestyle. I will continue to make the trek from the city to Hinsdale to go to Dr. Wilkemeyer's office! They're the best!

I was looking for an optometrist to take a look at an issue with my eye and they were able to fit me in the next day. He was professional, friendly, thorough and I would recommend him to all and everyone.
It was the first time I had seen a photo of my eye and he explained what he was looking at and why it was important.
I left with my eye issue fixed, a thorough eye exam complete and amazing glasses.

We've been going to Dr. Wilkemeyer for more than 15 years. He is a first rate professional...with the practiced instincts and equipment to make you feel reassured that you're getting the best care and evaluation possible. Kellie in the front office has a better feel for suggesting the right glasses than we do and we've all always been happy with the whole experience.
I can't account for the one negative review but we are long time very satisfied customers.

I had my first appointment with Dr. WIlkemeyer, and I have to say I was not pleased with the attitude the doctor and his assistant had towards me. Dr. Wilkemeyer does not seem to enjoy working there and in fact spoke frequently about how he is looking forward to retiring. His 'bed side' manner is sub par and when we began my eye examination, he took out my contacts with his fingers, without asking me before hand! I'm not certain whether this practice is common among eye doctors, but I would rather NOT have someone in my eyes like that.

I would highly recommend Dr Wilkemeyer. I came to him after years being at Lenscrafters. I was never happy with how I was seeing. Dr Wilkemeyer is very thorough. He took a long time on my first appointment, tweaking my prescription. And also in my follow up appointment (which was no extra charge. All part of the initial). I will be sticking with him for years to come!

Bob has been our O.D. for quite some time. He is extremely thorough in his exams and doesn't quit until you're completely satisfied with the results. Appointments are generally easy to get. His assistant, Kelly, is a wonderful receptionist. She's genial and always manages to laugh at the stupid things I do... like leaving with great confidence without my box of contacts, etc. Sigh. Good thing I'm close by!

Dr. Wilkemeyer was wonderful to work with. I had my two boys with me, and he explained and showed them what he was doing. He even let my 3 year old press the button to scan my 6 year old's retinas. The office was also willing to rebill for my contacts and eye exam after I forgot to use my HSA the first time. I will definitely be back as a regular customer.

Going to the eye doctor is usually a pain, but I've been going to Avenue Eyecare for the past few years. They were a mile down the road from my office and took my insurance. What more could you ask for?
It has been relatively easy to setup an appointment that was convenient to me versus setting one up 2 months in the vague future. Dr. Wilkemeyer is friendly and helpful. The office has a new machine that takes a picture of your retina. I find these are great conversation starters for my dates. "Would you like to see my retinas?"
Their frame selection is pretty
