Services
Our quaint retreat is nestled in the picturesque Arkansas River Valley and more specifically on the East side of Salida, Colorado. The Mountain Motel is located on the East end of Rainbow Blvd, commonly known as Hwy 50. After visiting Salida for years and staying at several other locations in the area I have found the only place I want to recommend to visitors to our mountains.
Cancellation Policy - Reservations cancelled 1 week prior to check-in will be refunded 50%. Cancellations within 24 hours of check-in date will be charged the full amount. Thank you for allowing me to stay at your motel, as one of your dog guests, because after miles of trails with my Owner I was anxiously awaiting a restful night that turned into two.
Four (Yes 4!) Fluffy pillows on each Full/ Queen Bed (includes freshly ironed pillow cases). LOBBY: Casual lounge to relax and enjoy the book and magazine library or chat with new friends. Prospecting the cyber sites for a place for a place to get in out of the cold and bed down, I happened upon the site of Mountain Motel in Salida.
I doubt that even a few days have gone by without my thinking about my wonderful stay there. And, yes, Colorado used to be my home and is still my "heart" home. Irene is one of those rare, remarkable, caring and engaging individuals. The motel really reflects her and her heart and style. I was so happy to be there and in Salida that I stayed twice as long as I intended to, and will, for sure, return as soon as I can.
We stayed in cabin 9 for one night as we was just passing through, but overall it was a very nice little cozy place to stay. I love old rustic cabins fit in just right. The owner talked to us over the phone and gave us great directions then left the cabin unlocked and turned on the heat because we were arriving late.

I can't express how much I enjoyed this motel. I chose it on purpose, based on online photos, as I wanted to get away from the standard cookie-cutter hotels I usually stay at when travelling. I couldn't be happier with my choice
I stayed here for four days in a room that was humble but comfortable, clean and welcoming. After one night in the room I decided this would be my go-to motel every time I stayed in Salida.
I think two of the most meaningful revelations I took home with me after my stay here is that it is a good thing to go simple at times, and that there are still good people in life

This was a great place to stay and price was competitive and comparable to other hotels in the area. The suite we stayed in was roomy, very clean, comfortable and even cozy. The staff was very very nice and personable. The code they offer is great as well and it’s grounds in a jar so you can make it the way you like it. Fridge and microwave in room. Beds comfortable and had air/heat units unlike many in colorado mountain towns. The small property was clean as well and felt safe. Convenient location. We enjoyed our stay here very much .

Stained clothing from a painted balcony railing, screaming shower plumbing, empty bath soap/shampoo dispenser, yappy dog, no screen on the balcony door . . .
No wifi is not big deal, but it didn't help. I could hardly wait to get to wifi to write a review. I told the person in the front office about the stain on my clothing from the balcony, he shrugged, "Sorry". His empathy and offer to help couldn't have been more lacking, nor his attitude that it wasn't his responsibility. There was no word of warning about wet, stained wood.
Platitudes on the walls -- they must never

This is a great little motel. It reminded me of my grandparents' cabin in the woods in MI. The website shows pictures of the rooms so you know exactly what you're getting since all the rooms look different. The biggest plus was that they allowed dogs to stay. I love bringing my dog with me everywhere I can, but not a lot of places allow dogs.
Room was clean and had great perks like coffee stuff, fridge, sink, plates, etc. It wasn't loud but the owners dog would start my dog barking so that wasn't fun. Not their fault, just my dogs.
All in all I would go back for a quick

We attempted to stay here. The owners were pleasant. We paid for our room and when we inspected the room there was a fast food container in the fridge. The shower had a used bar of soap and the sink area was not clean. We had set our bag on the bed and when we picked it up it was covered in pet hair. The owner offered another room but we decided to find somewhere else to stay. She refunded us our money and we left. The decor was quirky and quite cute just needed to be cleaned properly.

We (family of four) stayed for two nights in the older "cabin" section (#2). I love older properties, especially ones this old, as they tend to have a lot more charm than other hotel/motel choices. It was great having three beds in a single room. However, the room was dark, and the carpet felt like it needed to be replaced. These old 1940s cabins have everything you need, but are rather cramped and cluttered.

I visited August 2013 and had a very positive experience. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Recent remodeling shows everywhere. I was traveling with a dog and particularly enjoyed the grassy back yard with patio furniture. I watched a buck in velvet come down to feed next door both mornings. It's small and books up, but I'd go back gladly. I've stayed at several hotels in town and this one provided more for the money and was the most pleasant.

Small motel on the east side of Salida as you enter the city. Motel has two sections. Older cabins and newer motel rooms built in 1990's. we stayed in the newer section. rooms are large, with micowave, small frig. beds and pillow are hard. Big bathroom. a clean and neat place to stay with parking at your door.
we have a dog and our room had a back patio with grassy area for the dog. nice when you are traveling with a dog.
at this time, the motel is under contract for sale. our room was $50 a night including pet.
