I have been tattooing since roughly 2002. I have been tattooing here in Charleston, S.C. since 2007. I find that I work best, and my clients are the happiest, when I am given an artistic freedom to create for them on the subject matter that they want. This is what I do for a living and I make sure to give everyone my 100%.
Shane Watkins is a multi talented award winning artist of more than 20 years and counting. He enjoys every aspect of tattooing, whether it's black and grey or color, photo realism or impressionistic, he can help you reach your goal. Some of his clientele range from professional wrestlers like Jeff Hardy and Shawn Michaels to sports figures like MLB player Nick Swisher and others from the New York Yankees.
Chris Jones has been tattooing since 2011. Being Active Duty Navy, he has had the privilege of tattooing all over the world. He specializes in American Traditional, Watercolor, Dot work, and color tattoos. There is no project too big or too small. Chris will work with the budget you have to give you the best tattoo possible!
I've been tattooing since 2016. I started tattooing at Tabernacle Tattoo in Ybor City, Tampa under Zenon Pawelski, and then moved back to Charleston in fall of 2018. I am very proud to call Broken Lantern and the solid crew of quality tattooers my new home and tattoo family. I enjoy doing illustrated tattoos, heavy black work, minimalist tattoos and watercolor.

I sadly wish I had just left and lost the deposit. The tattoo is well done but it is nothing close to what I wanted. I wish I had communicated more and in the end it’s my fault for going through with it. I wanted the piece smaller and they worked with me as best as they could but I should’ve never made the appointment before being completely clear what I was looking for and knowing if they could even do it. I will have to learn to live with this tattoo, which is still well done and not a bad tattoo, just not what I wanted on my body.

This was my 1st tattoo experience and the staff at Broken Lantern did an outstanding job. Very easy going atmosphere. From setting up the appointment, all the way to putting the protective wrap on the finished product. My artist was Kat and she did an outstanding job in putting my ideas/wants into a showstopper of a tattoo. Very clean, very thorough and very attentive to detail. My fiancé & I like to get tattoos when we travel to new places. We had emailed Broken Lantern the week prior to our visit to Charleston and luckily they had an open time slot for one of the days we were in town. We sent them our inspiration along with our own drawings with our personal touches, and they combined them effortlessly to produce the perfect combination! We both got the same tattoo by Alana and she was very sweet and gentle (odd to say about a tattoo artist) but we both felt like we couldn’t have picked a better studio to get these done! I just got my second piece done by Chris. The store has a great atmosphere and everyone on has been friendly and helpful. Chris is an amazing artist and a cool guy to spend time with, which is important if you are going to spend a couple hours being tattooed. On time, fast work, good conversation and a great price. Took about three hours to get this done including sketching and making the print for the overlay and paperwork, about two hours to do the actual tattoo and it came out beautiful. If you want a good tattoo, this is the place!
