To attain this award requires first receiving the Fellowship Award. Then I returned to the University of Iowa's Dental College and took 400 additional hours of participation courses. This took six years to complete. I have completed over 1100 continuing education hours of study. The mastership award has been earned by only 1% of the dentists in the USA.
On your first visit, our mission is to welcome you into our office so you'll be comfortable and relaxed. Our team will review your medical and past dental history, and take any necessary radiographs (x-rays). Dr. Loomis will do a comprehensive oral examination and discuss all findings. It is important to establish excellent 2-way communication from the onset.
We are in-network with Delta Dental, Ameritas, Principal, Cigna, Physicians Mutual and MetLife Dental. In addition, we accept all PPO insurance plans. If you are not sure about your plan, we will be happy to assist you in any way possible. Please understand that we file dental insurance claims as a courtesy to our patients.
Understanding and preventing dental decay involves understanding the characteristics of bacteria in the mouth. There are over 700 different bacteria in the mouth and only a few contribute to dental decay 3. The few contribute to decay when you eat carbohydrates consisting of sugar, they eat the same products and excrete acid.
The body's white blood cells recognize specific bacteria and send a message (cytokines) to the white blood cells in the gum blood vessels around the teeth This is the start of inflammation in the mouth. The white blood cells receive the message, migrate through the blood vessel walls to attack the bacteria on the teeth.

I had been going to Dr Loomis for most of my childhood as my parents house was near the building. The staff were always really nice and treated me with respect. But they told me I had 3 possibly 4 cavities, and at this point my parents were going through a rough financial patch and my mom decided to give it some time as I wasn't in immediate pain as they wouldn't be able to handle the bill. She had a feeling that it wasn't right, and wanted me to get it checked out at another place. The new dentist told me I had no cavities and that I

The experience when you first walk into the office is cold. Which nobody has a smile and you get the impression that they do not want to be there. The receptionist (in my opinion) is very miss know it all and thinks she is always right and all about her. when taken back to exam and procedure rooms, again no smiles and hows your day and any type of small talk to try and relax you and make you comfortable. The DR arrives and still no one talks not even the doctor. Sometimes the doctor says something to the tech. The doctor is very rough, without concern of the well being of the patient I think
