When Proper Sky launched back in April of 2006, we promised ourselves our company would be different. Every day, we work our hardest to do what's right; for our solutions to be practical; to not only be technology experts, but to be genuinely nice to our customers; and, above all, to learn and grow as a team.
A Philly native, Jim studied Managed Information Systems at Drexel University. He served in the Peace Corps in Tonga, where - after facing the challenge of managing IT at a college of 400 students with no budget - he found his true calling of providing cost-effective IT solutions to small businesses and nonprofits.
After working full-time while attending school part-time for nearly 7 years, founder Jim Smith decided to join the Peace Corps. Spending much of 2003 stationed in a tiny, amazing country in the South Pacific called Tonga, Jim learned a thing or two about information technology.
Jim vowed that when he returned to the U.S, he would start an IT company where competency ruled, where solutions where practical, where we could work with honest companies that cared about their mission, and where customers and looked at technology as a real differentiator instead of as a line item.The first script Jim wrote upon his return to the country generated the new company's name: Proper Sky.

ProperSky is awesome! Jim has maintained a great staff who are always quick to respond, fix any problem, address all concerns and always explain the issues in terms I can understand! His staff has always been kind, courteous and professional. I have known Jim for many years, not too long after ProperSky began. It's been a pleasure to watch his business grow and prosper, but he and his staff still manage to treat every business /customer as if they were the only one. Proper Sky has been a valuable partner for over 10 years. What I love about Proper Sky is that they solve problems. They are not the kind of IT group that just sells and supports one or two products. They know how to research issues and find solutions. I want technology to make my job easier.
