Services
Although Allison and Mikalen both grew up in nearby towns on the South Shore, they did not meet until 2005 in Brockton when Allison served as a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Juvenile Court and Mikalen served as a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Family and Probate Court. An unbreakable friendship was formed once they discovered that they had the same afternoon coffee break schedule.
Allison focuses her practice on all areas of matrimonial and family law. She regularly represents clients in divorce, custody, support, modification and contempt proceedings, and also has experience representing clients in adoption, guardianship of minors and grandparent visitation cases. She has significant experience representing clients who are involved with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Mikalen concentrates her practice on domestic relations law and provides thoughtful and strategic counsel to clients in a variety of family law matters, including drafting and negotiating prenuptial, postnuptial, and cohabitation agreements, divorce actions, paternity or same sex parenting issues, and modification actions for alimony and child support.
Divorce is one of the most difficult things one can face in his or her lifetime. Whether you have been married for just a few years or for more than twenty years, Allison and Mikalen can help you resolve both the child custody and financial aspects of your divorce through negotiation, mediation, or another type of alternative-dispute resolution, or through litigation in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court.
Child support is a key component of any divorce case involving children; however, the need to address child support does not end once the couple is divorced. Since child support continues until a child is emancipated under Massachusetts law, parents often need to re-visit the issue of child support as their children grow older and as their life circumstances change.
