Northern Smiles Family Dental is a family owned and family centered dental practice. Dr. Brandon Nielson loves providing dental care from the youngest child in the family all the way to the oldest in the family. For him, being able to live in such an amazing community but also provide amazing dental service to his patients has been one of his dreams.
Depending on the last time you had a cleaning, we will either have you meet with one of our hygienist or Dr. Nielson. If your last cleaning was less than two years ago we will typically have you see the hygienist first for a regular cleaning followed by x-rays and examination.
If your last dental visit was well over two years ago, we will have you meet Dr. Nielson first where he will be able to evaluate the healthiness of your gums followed by examining your mouth for any restorative needs that need to be completed.At that time, he will review everything with you and schedule a time that will work for you to return for your specific cleaning, either a regular or deep cleaning.

When you visit Northern Smiles Family Dental for your regularly scheduled cleaning, a dental examination will typically be completed by Dr. Nielson. Routine dental examinations is not only about stopping a problem before it becomes an inconvenience for you, but also treating the concerned area while it is smaller allowing you to minimize how much time and money you need to spend in our office.
Traditionally silver fillings, also known as amalgam, have been placed as the primary restorative material when needing a cavity filled. Many individuals prefer not to have unaesthetic filling placed today. However, there are a few reasons, other than cosmetic, as to why Dr. Nielson at Northern Smiles Family Dental does not use this to restore teeth.
Dental veneers are a much thinner version of a dental crown but typically made for the front side of your teeth. Generally patient elect for veneers when wanting to enhance their smile, but there are also occasions where a veneer is placed as a final restoration or to fix a minor cosmetic flaw on a tooth.

Unbelievable staff! Not only do they have the best customer service, but you feel so comfortable like being with friends and family! I have always had SUCH bad anxiety about the dentist. I have never had a good experience, until now! Everyone from front office, hygienists, to the doctor were absolutely amazing. They were so nice and comforting. I never felt rushed asking my questions and they went above and beyond to help me in an emergency. So thankful for the staff! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

Two hours of dental work is never going to be the best way to spend time but it was the most comfortable, painless visit I have ever had. From injection onward, I didn't feel a thing, very little sensitivity afterwards. I very much appreciated the follow up call to make sure everything was okay and the 30% reduction in the bill because I don't choose to waste my money on dental insurance which usually costs more than the average treatment cost over five years. All in all the best experience I've ever had at a dentist.

Dr. Nielson and his staff (particularly Ashley) changed my outlook on going to the dentist. Before my spouse convinced me to see them, I had not been to the dentist for regular visits in over a decade. I had poor experiences with dentists as a child and they have been the group to change my outlook. I now visit every six months and have great experiences with additional work (partial cap and fillings, etc...). They are great communicators and listen to their patients. If you need a dentist this is the place to go.

We took my 91 year old mother to Dr. Nelson for dentures. She went through painful oral surgery and had anchors installed to hold the dentures.
We have been struggling for 1 year to get the dentures comfortable enough for my Mom to be able to wear them. There have been many trips to Dr. Nelson and many adjustments to no avail. We have repeatedly asked him to replace them but he has refused to do so.
Last week the dentures broke. Dr. Nelsons response was to tell Mom to use the temporary dentures he had given her when he ordered the ones that broke. He has adjusted them for her and she still can
