Services
1861 - The Kurrus Family immigrated to the United States from Germany and settled in East St. Louis, Illinois. First home of Joseph A. Kurrus Livery and Undertaking Company, before the streets were raised. 1889 - During Mayor Melbern M. Stephen's administration, the City of East St. Louis decided to elevate the street ten feet because of flooding.
Community Cremation Services is attached to the Kurrus Funeral Home and operated by the Kurrus Family. All cremations will be handled by Licensed Technicians that have been certified by the Cremation Association of North America. Upon receiving your loved ones remains, a Stainless Steel Coin with an engraved ID number will be placed with them and remain throughout the cremation process.
You will then be directed to a form to submit a Public Condolence. The condolence will be visible once a staff member has approved it. Please allow 24 hours for your condolence message to be viewable on the website. Your private condolence will be sent to us. We will then print out your condolence and deliver to the family member in charge of the arrangements, unless requested differently.
Realizing your family and friends offer the greatest consolation following the death of a loved one; we nevertheless, want you to know that we also share in your loss.

Therefore, Mr. Kurrus established our Continuing Program as an open ended ministry, to assist you and your family in any way possible with answers to questions and concerns; grief care materials; suggestions, ideas and arrangements for monuments and markers; and information on funeral pre-arrangements.
Dying is one of the few events in life certain to occur, yet one we are not likely to plan for. A Funeral is an event where people gather together to express their grief at the death of a loved one and to share with and support others who are experiencing grief.

A funeral provides an organized opportunity for the family and friends to acknowledge their loss, to state the important role this person had in their life, to recognize the loved one's contributions and accomplishments, and to prepare for life without the deceased.Pre-arranging is the planning and/or pre-payment of the funeral services before they are needed.

We drove 2 hours to get here and it was well worth the trip for our 2 cats. They are not only respectful and professional, they are compassionate and understanding. Unlike most establishments we've been to for our pets who are generally uncaring, this place is by far the best. I can't thank them enough for what they've done for my family.
