Southport Island Marine, LLC was established in May of 2000 on the site of the former David Nutt Boatbuilder. The new owner, Douglas Goldhirsch, continues to serve many of the same customers as the previous business as well as many new customers. Doug grew up on the waters of Long Island, NY's Great South Bay.
He learned to sail at an early age, and also gained power boat experience from the time he was an teenager. By age 18 he was running a freight boat during the summers. While in High School in 1972 at age 15, Doug, with his brother and father, built a boat which is still in the family. Sharon & Doug were married in 2002 and Sharon handles the books and helps with marketing of the yards boats and services.

Services
We broker the boats we have built and occasionally boats owned by clients that store their boats here. We have successfully completed some ambitious refits which included re-powering, re-arranging tanks and pumps, and re-working exhaust systems. Also new electronics and custom built galley and cockpit arrangements.
Southport Island Marine is pleased to offer three different options for the chartering of our boats! We can take up to 6 passengers in our elegantly appointed Southport 30 powerboats (built by us!) on tours of the Boothbay Region for as much time as you desire. Bring a picnic and eat aboard or bring it to an island!
Not looking for a brand new boat? We have a host of boats our crew has gone over with a fine tooth comb, ready and waiting to be launched in the water! We also keep track of all Southport Island Marine built boats on the market--often knowing when one of them is for sale before they are even listed.
