In Stockton, California, the Bolognini family celebrates the traditions of Northern Italy. From the San Joaquin Valley and beyond, customers have come to know Gian's Deli as their neighborhood deli for the past 48 years. From the aisles packed with imported specialty groceries to the kitchen exuding fresh scents of homemade Italian favorites, Gian's Deli has preserved the heritage of nostalgic "Old Italy."
At Gian's Deli you'll find Italian cold cuts, imported cheeses, the "infamous" Gian's raviolis. Whether you're looking for a delicious homemade lunch spot or needing a crowd pleasing catering order, Gian's Deli is your spot! At the young age of 16 years old, Giovanni (Gian) Bolognini, moved from Corfino, Italy to Stockton where he worked as an employee at Angelini and Farrari.

For now, giving y'all a one star for having to pay an extra six dollars for my sandwich or try to find my bank's ATM. It would be nice to know ahead of time-- that you guys are behind the times-- and that you have to pay cash. So here I am an hour after My phone order with my food.
When I told the guy behind the counter what an inconvenience it was, he didn't seem to care at all... like he's heard that complaint 1 million times before and doesn't do anything about it.
Pretty sure he was the owner or manager even though he said he will pass it on to the owner or manager

This is the real deal here folks, an authentic Italian deli that just smells amazing when you walk in, they have fresh homemade salads and pastas and all the favorite lunch meats like cappacola ,prosciutto and mortadella, prices were very reasonable, this place is hidden gem tucked away behind another store off the miracle mile. Super happy with the food and service

BRING CASH! They only accept cash, though they have an ATM you can use (with a large fee). (I didn't see a sign warning if this on the door, which would have been appreciated.) The sandwiches are more expensive than a big chain, but they slice the meat and cheese right in front of you. You can taste the fresh ingredient difference.

I can truly say Gian's #8 and #7 sandwich got me through 2020. The meat and cheeses are always freshly cut, and it doesn't hurt that the butcher is always so friendly (and ringless ; ) ps do not skip the fresh baked cookies, they're to die for. Thank ya'll so much, for all your hard work. Light and love,

I went to Gian's to buy Ravioli because my neighbor loves their ravioli so I decided to try them. They were delicious!! Very flavorful! The gentleman behind the counter was so very nice. He told me to go straight home so that the ravioli wouldn't thaw out. He even checked to make sure I new how to prepare them! I thought that was so very nice! They have lots of Italian goodies! I saw my favorite Pellegrino Italian soda there! They also make wonderful sandwiches!! They have hot salami and it is the best!! A definite "MUST TRY"

Fantastic! Had the #3 on focaccia and a couple of slices of pizza. I was especially impressed with the freshness and consistency of the focaccia. It had just the right amount of flavor and texture, and with the oil and peppers it really complemented the meats inside.
So put that down as a win. Plus the service was great and friendly. So I will definitely be back!

Sandos are just ok. Very limited, cash only for some reason, but they have an ATM where they charge to get money, decent selection of Italian deli meat. I have been here a few times because I want to love it but it's not working out. I tend to leave needing a little more substance.
Lighten up the menu with more options, take cards, and maybe I'll be back.

These raviolis, are amazing. The fresh pasta is definitely my weakness. Service was fast and courteous with great recommendations from the staff since it was my first time. Sandwiches seem to be popular and with fresh bread I can see why. Mochas are an option too, don't forget that AND...It's a cash or check only spot so don't forget to bring the cash-ola.

OMG!! The last time I was here was over 10 years ago. I very vividly remember the two guys making my sandwhich. I even remember I had 'Coppa' for my first time ever, by the recomendation of the owner guy who SLICED MY MEAT right THEN for my sandwich. CRAZY that I remember that one time over ten years ago.
Anyways... it was delicious, and besides the fact they close before I normally got off work... not sure why I ever stopping coming. WELL NO MORE !!!!
I read a bunch of reviews and everyone raving about the WEDNESDAY ONLY ITALIAN SAUSAGE SANDWICH. Well, it's Wednesday

Our group was visiting from New York and Colorado when our relatives from the Stockton area treated us to a lunch from Gian’s. What a wonderful treat it was! Mind you, the New York portion of our group runs a fabulous delicatessen, understandably our standards are very high. We were all very very pleased! Cudo’s Gian’s!

This place is nostalgic for me being 1/2 Italian in addition to the fact that I worked here for almost 2 years right out of high school. But all bias aside you will get the best no frills sandwich here. They have a large assortment of meats and cheeses to choose from but it is the bread...the French rolls are from Genova Bakery and they bake their own focaccia. They also serve homemade pizza every day and have a different hot lunch item on the menu such as a ravioli or tortellini plate that comes with salad and bread on the side. Available for sandwich sides are a good potato, pasta, grilled veggie

We sure didn't mind driving all this way to check this deli out.
Place only takes cash but they do have an ATM machine there, I suggest you take your own just in case.
My sister tried the #10 on a ciabata bread and it was pretty good, I got a #6 on a homemade focaccia bread and oh man that bread was just delicious. I would've guessed that ciabata bread would be better but nope focaccia made these sandwiches.
We would definitely return to this spot if and when we're in the area for sure.
