The company began in 1973, when Angie and Roland Bender opened the first Bender's Shoes store in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. They combined good quality shoes with sit-and-fit full service to customers. Today our family owned business, now in its third generation, has rebranded as Benders. We have three stores located in Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Duluth.

Come into our Grand Rapids store and you'll find a large selection of quality brand name shoes for men, women and children. We offer a wide range of styles including athletic shoes, outdoor shoes, work shoes, casual and dress-casual shoes.
If you are struggling with Flat Feet, High Arches, Plantar Fasciitis, Diabetes, Neuropathy, Bunions and/or Metatarsal Pain, Mike is available to evaluate and assist you with a variety of shoes and over-the-counter orthotics. There is no charge for an Advanced Foot Evaluation which is done in person in our store.
The lease has been signed and construction has begun so now we can make it official: Benders Duluth will be moving in the Spring of 2022 to a new, expanded location to accommodate all our NEW PRODUCTS! Currently, Benders Duluth on Maple Grove Road has a great selection of men's and women's footwear.

Excellent quality shoes that are appropriate for work, hiking, and Duluth climate. Very friendly staff with good knowledge of their inventory. They carry larger sizes (yay!) and there's a lot to choose from in the bargain area. This is what shoe stores used to be. Helpful attentive employees make all the difference.

I had been waiting for the shoe sale at Benders so that I could get a nice pair of Keen shoes at a reasonable price. The sales people here were very friendly, helpful and all-around professional. They actually helped with my selection, sizing and in trying on my shoes. They helped me make the right decision.

Nice store, friendly staff, good variety. The issue I have had is they never have my size shoes in stock. I have been in on several occasions and have asked to try on 4 different varieties of shoes and they have not had them in a men's size 12. I have found the same shoes at other stores in the area so I'm not sure I will try shopping here again.

Spent 135.00 on a pair of Birkenstocks for my daughter that ended up being to small. She tried them on with socks and walked around the house to make sure. Went to exchange them and nope they were to worn to resell. The rude lady tried telling me they were worn outside when they were not. I will NEVER shop there again. Overpriced and terrible customer service.
