Michele (Michael) Santoro was born in Rome in 1972 and came to the U.S. when he was 3 years old. He settled with his parents in Hollywood California. Michele's learned Italian cooking at his mother's side and began work at Andre's Italian Deli on Vermont Avenue in Hollywood at age 12. Here Michael learned both the business and the art of real Italian sandwich making.

Family Owned, they always make the perfect sandwhich. The jewel of Alameda's sandwhich shops, they have wonderful customer service, always please to see us, even if they are slamming busy. Bread is ALWAYS FRESH every day.. Order early if you want ensure they will still have your favorite flavor. All their bread is so delicious (Semifreddis) if they are out try a different flavor, it's a "no lose" any choice you would make. Of course their meat/ cheese selection is best in quality, Boarshead brand. They also salads, fresh pastas, chips & drinks.

Best Italian Deli/sandwich shop in Alameda! Our first time there and we were received first class service, my turkey with pepper jack on seeded sour dough - EVERYTHING is fresh!! The staff are fantastic, Heidi, Mike and RJ. They make you feel special, let us know best times to come and off menu items (hot food) prepared FRESH weekdays. We will return so we can try other sandwich combinations on their wonderful daily baked rolls/bread. *We were treated to a slice of fresh made personal pizza...hands down a great experience.

Excellent Italian style deli. The food is great with sizable sandwiches! Dutch crunch bread and delicious cheeses available. The atmosphere is that hard to find authentic delicatessen and Italian family run business. It feels like a hole in the wall in SF. Make sure to order ahead. We hit the high school kids lunch rush and had to wait. 5 Stars ⭐️.
