I, Gary Spolar, founded Century Chimney in 1988 when I was working my way through College. I soon realized that there was a great need for this service, and took the business full time. I have been working full time as a chimney professional since then, and have taken many classes to educate myself and my employees on chimney and fireplace cleaning and chimney / fireplace repair related subjects.

We are now a company of ten chimney technicians, cleaning, relining, and performing masonry work for Cuyahoga, Medina, Lorain, Lake and Geauga, and Summit County. Century Chimney Sweep Inc. is a member of the National Chimney Sweeps Guild. Our sweeps are certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), who in turn train our newer sweeps until they are ready for testing and certified.

Century Chimney Report

We perform level 2 (video) fireplace and chimney inspections, and all repairs, including relining & rebuilding. Our technicians are well trained, experienced, and certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA). We are covered by State Farm for general liability insurance, and carry Workers Compensation insurance through the OHIO Bureau of Workers Compensation.

Faq Report

All chimneys should be evaluated yearly and cleaned as required. The evaluation is necessary to ensure the chimney has adequate draft, is free of debris and cracks, and has no loose or missing mortar joints. Prefabricated chimneys are always subject to vibration from wind and joints can become misaligned.

Well known chimney sweep in our area. They were very professional and throughout. Had what seemed like latest technology to video up our chimney to show us exactly what the problems were. I wouldn't trust anywhere else to be honest.

Awesome service from Century Chimney! They cleaned and serviced our wood burning fire place and showed exceptional care for our home while doing so. The service was fast and friendly and extremely reasonable for all the work they put into it! Tyler and Theresa (sp) were both professional, friendly and efficient. My wife and I recently purchased a new house that has a wood burning fireplace that the prior owners had never used. We decided that it would be a very good idea to have the chimney inspected and cleaned as we did not want to have a chimney fire the first time we fired it up. Because of the outstanding work that Century Chimney had done for us in the past, they were the only ones that we called for this job. The crews are extremely knowledgeable about chimneys and always take the time to give detailed explanations of what they see along with providing pictures so I do not have to climb on the roof

I first engaged the experts at Century Chimney when I bought my home to clean and inspect my fireplace. Fast forward nearly 20 years and I once again turned to Century Chimney to install a new liner to address the chimney’s deterioration, which is expected of a home built in 1950. I used Century Chimney years ago in another home to clean out a 150 year old chimney. They were so lovely and reliable that when I needed to repair chimneys at my new home, I called them. Simply put, they are exceptional! They did excellent work at a literal fraction of the cost of other quotes. They were professional, courteous, and fast! Really can't say enough good things. I unreservedly recommend them.

Gary cleaned out a kitchen fireplace we converted back to wood burning, fixed the flue and inspected our two chimneys and other two fireplaces. He was prompt, helpful and very knowledgeable. I'll be using his company for all our future chimney inspections and cleanings.

My husband and I just moved to the Eastside and needed to fix one chimney and have the other inspected before we used it. Gary and Greg were great. they were on time, professional and even suggested a fix that made them less money! I will use them again and highly recommend them to anyone.
