Did you know that it is possible to grow new nerves in your feet? Well, it's true! But before we can get to how this can be done, we have to understand how they are lost in the first place. In diabetes, particularly type II, high levels of harmful chemicals, along with a reduction in beneficial chemicals, cause damage to the interior lining of arteries.
If you currently have a wound on your foot and are a diabetic, you are probably very perplexed as to how you got this problem. You may have even had the wound for quite some time and are surprised by the effects and appearance of the wound or ulcer, as some people refer to it, once it is pointed out to you.
Did you know that damage to the nerves in your feet and hands can be underway as much as 20 years prior to a diagnosis of diabetes? That is what a recent research study from Johns Hopkins revealed. This means that with diabetes at near-epidemic proportions in the US, there are many more people in the early stages of nerve damage (neuropathy) than we had any idea of as much as three years ago.
Although many people are concerned about the cosmetic appearance of these diseases, fungal infections are often painful and do increase the risk of serious bacterial infections developing. In patients that have a suppressed immune system, such as diabetics, fungal infections can be a serious risk factor.

I am a diabetic patient. My feet were in severe swelling, cold, no feelings for almost 10 years. Now most symptoms are gone, my feet are warm and normal. I can walk and travel . Dr. McNamara is an excellent physician.

Dr. McNamara and his team were so kind and understanding. I had a traumatic experience as a kid in South Florida where a podiatrist performed without numbing the area and I passed out from the pain. Dr. McNamara took care of both me and my anxiety. He numbed my toe and explained everything that he was doing. He got rid of all of my fears. I highly recommend him to anyone out there who might be nervous.
