You can buy my work online or at the beautiful Saltstone Ceramics gallery in Wallingford, Seattle. From dream to design to delivery, I can build the heirloom piece of furniture you've always wanted. Ruby Pear Woodworks is Steve Leroux's one-person workshop located in Northwest Seattle. I make custom fine furniture, gorgeous cutting boards, and assorted other fine housewares.
Services
Ruby Pear Woodworks is a full-service design and manufacturing furniture shop. I'll work with you through inspiration, design, construction, and finishing, and all the way to delivery and installation. My workshop motto - beautiful, thoughtful, handmade - informs every step of the process. It all starts with an idea.
In addition to making gorgeous custom fine furniture, I love to make smaller pieces for your home. My hand-made cutting boards are well-known in Seattle, and I also create pepper mills, custom boxes, trays, and other small items. I make a hundred or so cutting boards, by hand, every year. Most of these are made for the holiday gift market, but I take custom orders throughout the year.
Private Lessons at Ruby Pear Woodworks are fun, inclusive, and a great way to dip your toe into the wonderful ocean of woodworking. I specialize in teaching complete beginners how to safely and confidently use machines like table saws and planers, while making simple useful projects. Private lessons are limited to just one or two people, so you get lots of attention while working in shop.
Ruby Pear is a Seattle woodworking shop keeping the studio furniture tradition alive. The shop motto is "beautiful, thoughtful, handmade", and I keep those words in mind at every step of the process, from design to delivery. I can remember the moment when I realized that I would become a woodworker: I was sitting in the fireside lounge of a local hotel, enjoying a book and a cocktail.

We found Ruby Pear after looking for a local woodworker to make a dining table. We sent Steve a few photos of tables we liked and he said he'd be glad to work from that starting point. He sent us a few different mock ups and we chose one of them. He built it, delivered it, and set it up for us in our kitchen. The resulting table is a masterpiece, and it will be in our family forever. The quality is top notch, and we get compliments on it all the time. The design is lovely but it doesn't feel overly precious, so it's perfect for our family with small kids. When I asked Steve about

I'd recommend Ruby Pear Woodworks without reservation!
We asked Steve to make a custom hi-fi cabinet for our new record player. We had measurements of the components it would need to house and a budget; that's all he needed to get started on a design. The in-house consultation was great because he could get a sense of our aesthetic and the feeling of the room that would house the cabinet. Plus, he suggested a detail on the doors that we hadn't considered (but loved).

Excellent experience all around. Steve took my basic ideas for three custom jewelry boxes and made them into a set of unique, world class pieces. He guided me through the planning process and sent me images of progress along the way. The final product is better than I imagined. Schedule and budget were very reasonable. Highly recommended.
