It is a highly focused state during which patients are taught to create an experience, in their minds, that allows them to realize that they are able to do things that they previously were not aware that they could do. There are no medications, no side effects, and it is quite empowering! People with open minds who are motivated and willing to use their imaginations do very well with medical hypnosis.

Dr. Lazarus works with all ages of clients, but specializes in children and adolescents, particularly ages 5 through early 20s. Rather than merely taking a temporary pill, learning a permanent skill is very empowering. It shows patients that they have the ability and power to gain control over their bodies and life challenges.

The feelings of anxiety are real and physical, similar to what one might feel when encountering a grizzly bear, or another real, physical threat. Our bodies automatically react with the "flight or fight phenomenon." We react this way because it is more important for our hearts to pump blood to our muscles so that we can fight or run away from the bear than to digest what we had for lunch!
Do you ever get nervous before giving a speech or a presentation? You're prepared for it, you know the material, you're an expert in the field, and, then, when the time comes to lecture, you freeze. Fear of public speaking is one of the leading fears in people, along with fear of spiders, heights, and flying.

Dr Lazarus treated our child respectfully throughout the treatment. He helped us, as parents, support our child to reach their goals and take care of the concern. While the challenge wasn't 100% "fixed", it has become an issue that is now very much under control and our child feels empowered to be the person to take care of it. Dr Lazarus offers "sliding scale" prices, but it is all out of pocket and is not inexpensive. It was absolutely worth it, for our family.

Dr. Lazarus met with us (the parents) about childhood tics that our daughter is experiencing. We went into depth about history and possible treatment. It is clear to me that Dr. Lazarus is incredibly knowledgeable in the area of tics/Tourette's/anxiety. My husband and I found the consultation to be useful and informative.

After the 2.5 hour consultation, Dr. Lazarus suggested that it wasn't the right time to bring in our daughter for a variety of factors (age, the fact that she is not herself bothered by the tics, etc) and that we would call back when these factors change. Dr.

I have been proud to have considered Jeff a colleague and friend for the past seven years. As a child psychiatrist, I see a number of patients who have significant abdominal pain but can't find a medical explanation for their pain. Jeff is an expert hypnotist who has helped a number of patients with functional abdominal pain. I have found him to be intelligent, funny, caring, and very professional.

We are so grateful to Dr. Lazarus for helping guide our son to a place where he has found a new confidence and strength. He was struggling with IBS for over 18 months unable to make it to school and after the first session with Dr. Lazarus, he was able to go to school the next school day. He continues to grow and face challenges each day, but he now has strategies that work for him to enable him to do what he wants to do. Dr. Lazarus is a kind man who sincerely cares for the well-being of our son and it was apparent in the meetings he had with him. We are so thankful we were referred to Dr. Lazarus

My son has Tourette's Syndrome, and we were worried about how it would affect his future when medications and other treatments failed us. That was when we found Dr. Lazarus; his teaching our son to self-hypnotize has changed his life, and given him a more confident control of the tics. A job very well done, and well worth the money to give somebody a better chance in the future!

Our daughter went in to see Dr. Lazarus after four months of a stomach ache that could not be figured out by the pediatrician, GI specialist and many others. She had been to see medical personnel at least 12 times during that period and they were all stumped. Finally our pediatrician recommended seeing Dr. Lazarus because he could help with tics and other recurring problems that couldn't be explained medically.

Our daughter had no anxieties about school, her social life, sports or anything. So, we didn't know what could help.

She saw Dr. Lazarus a handful of times and her

In 2009, Dr Lazarus helped our 15 year old daughter with migraines. She took a soccer ball to the face and suffered a spinal fluid leak. (CSF leak). She had brain surgery for the leak but continued with the headaches. Dr Lazarus was the only doctor that had a solution! To this day, 6 years later, I don't know what exactly the two of them talked about....she still wont tell me! But it worked! I thank him constantly in my prayers for his knowledge and gift of teaching her how to heal herself. She applies those hypnosis tools to other areas of her life today. I am grateful for knowing Dr Lazarus

Dr. Lazarus specializes in treating children/adolescents, but sees some adult patients. I'm one of those adults. I was referred to him by a psychologist friend who suggested Dr. Lazarus might be able to teach me self-hypnosis to help me with my chronic migraines.

At the time I began seeing Dr. Lazarus (January 2014), I was taking migraine medication that provided some relief, but not enough - I was still suffering a lot. Working wth Dr. Lazarus to learn self-hypnosis techniques has really improved my quality of life. In 5 sessions I was able to learn and practice the techniques enough to

Dr. Lazurus was suggested to us by Doctor McKracken for our adolescent son's abdominal issues after all medical tests came back negative. We were desperate enough to try anything. Dr. Lazurus began by interviewing us about our son, yawning his way through the $720 interview. He asked permission to video tape his sessions with my son for his own use, which we refused thinking it would make our son more self conscious during the sessions. He persisted in wanting to tape the sessions, asking my son's permission and being very pushy. After three sessions, as my son was not susceptible to
