Citrus County is home to many attractions such as the Crystal River and Homosassa Springs. If you like kayaking, swimming, nature, and the like this is a great place to visit. Swimming/snorkeling with the manatees is a popular activity, although naturalists disagree with disturbing the animals. For the budget conscious there are places like Hunter Springs Park in Crystal River (free) with great swimming, rest rooms, and a grassy area to lay out.
Inverness Florida is the county seat in Citrus County. The Census nine year ago was just 7,210, however the city is growing fast. The Courthouse is located near the Flying Eagle Preserve Inverness Florida. The original courthouse was built in 1912, however it has been recently renovated and serves as a museum and the Citrus County Historical Society resides there.
This community is growing and home to Black Diamond, Citrus Hills, Brentwood, Terra Vista, Pine Ridge, Beverly Hills and many other beautiful communities through the area. School system is rated among the very best. Lecanto offers activities for the entire family, such as Citrus County's recently welcoming a few new restaurants as well such as Katch Twenty-Two and World Fusion.
Hernando Florida is the third largest city in Citrus County, located next to Citrus Hills and home to many of the most gorgeous communities in the county. Two public schools with very high ratings. The crime rate continues to be very low and the unemployment in the county is moderate. Hernando features a 46-file bike riding trail known as the Withlacoochee State Trail.
Dunnellon Florida is primarily located in Marion County, however after Dunnellon was founded, you'll find some areas of this city with Citrus County. Dunnellon Florida was founded in 1887. Phosphate was discovered in the area which lead to an expansion of the area in the early 1910's. The expansion took place near the Rainbow River, using the river's natural flow to transport phosphates.
