Bridge cranes come in a variety of configurations and are all "custom" to some extent. In simple terms, a bridge crane is a lifting device, riding on an elevated structure, which provides movement of material in three axes. The operation of the crane can be manual or powered, and can be controlled by a push button pendant, radio remote controls or can be fully automated.
Mid-Atlantic Crane does more than create cranes. We also manufacture our own line of built up hoists. Whether you need higher capacity (up to 200 tons), long lift, fast lifting speeds or higher than standard duty cycles, we have the design expertise to provide a custom solution. We also manufacture Hawkeye Hoists for concrete pipe production lines.
Gantry cranes have similar characteristics as bridge cranes. The basic difference is that while bridge cranes ride on an elevated steel structure, gantry cranes ride on rails at ground level. Gantry cranes are an attractive alternative to bridge cranes in applications with very long runways, particularly outdoors where the cost of installing a long steel structure would be prohibitive.
Jib cranes can be an inexpensive solution to perform repetitive tasks in a small defined area. Jib cranes can be floor supported or attached to building columns. The jib rotation can be manual or motorized. Wall traveling jib cranes are a special device that allows travel along the length of the building and ride on a structure similar to a runway.
