West Houston Periodontics specializes in treating periodontal diseases and in the placement of dental implants. Using non-surgical, surgical, and regenerative techniques, we can help treat the underlying causes of your periodontal disease. We strive to restore your periodontal health in the most non-invasive and cost-effective way possible.
We provide treatment alternatives, so you can decide what is best for you. Once your initial treatment is complete, we'll help with the ongoing therapy and treatment to make sure your mouth stays healthy for years to come. It is important to have gum problems checked promptly, as gum disease left alone may eventually need treatment through surgery or extraction.

LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) is an exciting new process in which a ND:YAG laser (similar to the laser that plastic surgeons use to resurface skin) is used to remove pathologic bacteria and infected tissue from periodontal pockets. This gives the gum tissue a chance to heal and leads to regeneration of lost tooth support structures, including bone.
A dental cleaning is a professional cleaning you receive from a dentist or dental hygienist. Scaling: this is the process of removing plaque and tartar from all tooth surfaces in a variety of methods, depending on the amount of plaque and tartar. Dental hygienists traditionally perform scaling by hand.
Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your teeth and gums. Healthy teeth not only enable you to look and feel good, they make it possible to eat and speak properly. Good oral health is important to your overall well-being. Daily preventive care, including proper brushing and flossing, will help stop problems before they develop.
A dental implant is an ideal tooth restoration for people who are missing one or more teeth as a result of injury, periodontal disease, or any other reason. A dental implant is a titanium post that Dr. Calongne surgically positions into the jaw. Once in place and bone surrounding the implant has had time to heal, a replacement tooth is attached to the post.

Dr. Calongne and his entire staff have provided me with nothing but excellent care. Dr. Calongne is sweet, gentle and very thorough, taking the time to explain and ensure that you understand your procedure. His assistant, hygienist and receptionist are all wonderful people, great at what they do too.

Terrific experience for the not so fun idea of a tooth extraction, involving an infection. Extremely professional, yet kind and personal approach. Dr. Calongne is an accomplished surgeon and his staff is outstanding. The procedure went very quickly and painlessly. While I may be atypical, I was able within one hour to make an important presentation. Follow up has also been commendable.

I was very impressed with this office from the very first phone call to schedule. Chenell at the front desk is exceptional, she is very professional yet personable. That's hard to find these days in ANY office. Dr. Calongne is very caring and put me at ease, as did his assistant. Everything was explained to me in detail from treatment planning to cost. This office really feels like they are a family, the patient doesn't feel like they are just a number on a chart. I highly recommend Dr. Calongne and his staff.
