CR Muterspaw Lumber is a family-owned hardwood lumber supplier located in southwest Ohio, just outside of Xenia. We are located on a family farm, conveniently situated on Route 68, right off Interstate 71 or the 35 bypass. We offer the finest domestic, quartersawn, figured, exotic, and live edge hardwoods to woodworkers both locally and nationally.
The definition of a board foot is rather simple: a piece of lumber that is 1 foot wide, 1 foot long, and 1 inch thick, or its volumetric equivalent. For example, a board measuring 1" thick in the rough and 6" wide and 8' long would be 4 board feet. Use the following formula: thickness (inches) x width (inches) x length (feet) divided by 12.
We sell live edge wood slabs, domestic hardwood lumber, quarter/rift sawn lumber, figured lumber, and exotic wood. Below is a list of the wood types that we typically have in stock. Unless otherwise noted, all lumber is kiln dried and made of FAS grade material. Red and white color, tends to be knotty, used most often for blanket chests and lining drawers.
CR Muterspaw Lumber specializes in selling kiln-dried lumber, including figured hardwoods, exotic wood, quartersawn lumber, domestic lumber, and live edge slabs. We sell species such as Tiger Maple, Birdseye Maple, Quartersawn White Oak, Curly Cherry, Walnut, Lacewood, Padauk, and Rosewood, to name just a few options.
CR Muterspaw Lumber stocks a wide variety of domestic hardwood lumber. Selections include such species as Alder, Ash, Aromatic Cedar, Basswood, Birch, Cherry, Cypress, Hard Maple, Hickory, Eastern White Pine, Poplar, Red Oak, Sassafras, White Oak, Walnut, and more. Most species are stored hit/miss planed, but S2S, S3S, and S4S are available with 2-day notice for millwork.

We dropped in looking for a board to add to our panel wall for a bit of color. We were blown away by the quantity/quality/diversity of woods available. Primarily domestic but there is a substantial amount of African and Latin American lumber. The store is well-known, just looking at the shipping labels for wood being fedexed out to places like Rhode Island, Virginia, California, etc. The house is beautiful and the grounds are truly God's country. The Purple Heart (Brazil) and Purple Poplar are just stunning. When our wall is finished, the one plank from inner Africa that we purchased in SW Ohio

I stopped by within a half hour of closing time and they let me look around and did not rush me. They have a large selection of domestic and exotic wood species, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Very reasonable prices as well! One concern I had initially was that only a few stacks of boards had pricing on them, so I couldn't tell how much each piece cost in board feet. I asked a staff member about it and he not only knew most of it by heart, but he also told me they have a pricing sheet I can walk around with next time I am in, I just needed to request one. I will definitely be back
