Primos deli in Akron Ohio was perhaps my wife’s favorite restaurants on our tour of the biggest cities in Ohio. According to her the Reuben sandwich was the best, by the way this is from favorite sandwich, that she ever had in her life. What makes it so good you ask? According to my wife it was the bread.
I ordered for Chicken salad sandwich. Perhaps a regional thing we are not familiar with, their chicken salad is made with pineapple in it & is distinctly sweet. Unfortunately that was not what I expected and it really did not appeal to me.
We ordered the coleslaw and potato salad to split

I love their New York pastrami! The best sandwich I have ever had and it's so different than anything I've ever eaten, pastrami is just italian bacon in a thick crispy layer with coleslaw and normally I hate coleslaw but this is homemade and very very good not like any I've ever had before, I love it so much I eat every piece that falls off and my 9 year old daughter is picky and hates messy food and said this is so good it's worth getting a little messy. And great customer service as well

This is not to reflect their food, just to be clear. Primo's transitioned to carry-out only over the pandemic. I have been looking forward to going back there for dine-in - they had great service, great food and a terrific beer selection. Primo's will be carry-out only indefinitely. This is a slap in the face to the Akron community and to all of those who grew up loving dining at Primo's. The Primo's that I know is not something that can be replicated and thrown into a styrofoam container. Shame on the owner and whoever else supported that decision. My tenure at Primo's

You can't go wrong with the Spicy Italian.
Best sandwich in Akron? Yeah, it's definitely up there, top three no doubt. Plus the beer selection... ohhhhh man the beer selection. You can really get in trouble here with their beer selection... did I mention the great beer selection?
Beyond the best sandwich in Akron and a great beer selection the staff is awesome, the table gets a basket of delicious potato chips, and all their selections are solid. This place has been here forever and the food is so good you can understand why. The patty melt is one of the best I've ever had.

Their spicy Italian might be the best sandwich I've ever eaten, but it's just not the same now that they are takeout only. It was, at one time, one of my favorite places to go. Incredible drafts, chips, and atmosphere. Unless you live or work nearby, it's just not worth it now sadly. The food doesn't travel well to go, and there is nowhere nearby that is a friendly atmosphere to eat at unless you want to just sit in a nearby parking lot. I hope someday they change their minds and go back to indoor dining. It was an iconic spot.

This place has the greatest subs! Spicy Italian is excellent! Their macaroni salad is exceptional. I am however a little disappointed to hear that they do not plan on reopening the dining room. The dining room was great because they had coolers and coolers of unique beers that you could sample while you ate, and they had attendants that would come around and fill your potato chip bowls. It was just an overall great experience. I hope they reconsider and reopen the dining room even if it's in a smaller capacity.

This was my 1st time trying Primo's, although I've driven past it for decades. I LOVE corned beef Reubens, so I wanted to give them a try. The shop is clean and the employees are VERY nice and helpful! I appreciated having to wait for my order, because I knew it was being made fresh. The Ruben came with a bag of Snyder's chips & a dill pickle + and extra side of dressing for 9.99 takeout only. They do accept debit cards for payment.
The sandwich was on grilled rye bread. The Russian dressing was ok, but bland. The kraut was ok, but again blad, lacking it's signature bite. Comparing this ruben

Dear Yelpers,
Eccentric, eclectic, extravagant, and EXCELLENT! Pulling up to Primo's will have you wondering just what it is that has you here...but don't let the disheveled exterior fool you. This place has just what ya need. We stumbled across it on accident and it was one of the better mistakes I've made this year. The lovely staff of ladies was there to greet and serve with a smile that made you feel like a local. And the Spicy Italian Sub definitely earned its #1 Sub in Akron title! Not too spicy and packed with flavor!! And don't forget to pick up something to drink from

Excellent sandwiches, especially that hot spicy Italian sub! And the Reuben has the most tender corned beef! This place feels like a dive bar, but has very tasty food.
You pick your bottle or can of beer (lots of craft and unique brews) from the refrigerator. And the prices are excellent.
Rolling Acres, sadly, feels like a ghost town. But Primo's is thriving!

Enjoyable sandwiches.
I really liked the Reuben sandwich here. It had a nice amount of corned beef flanked on both well-melted cheese, and the bread was nicely grilled (and not greasy). The tasty pickle spear and chips on the side made it a complete and filling meal. Their coleslaw was enjoyable.
The carrot cake got a lot of praise from the table, in particular it's surprisingly light and fluffy (but not overly sweet) cream cheese frosting. It might be the best cream cheese frosting I've tried, and they seem to know it's good, as they lay it on quite thick.

Primos Deli has been serving Akron for over 35 years. They have been voted for some best subs in the area. Everything is cooked to order and the menu has a great selection of your deli favorites. They also have a large beer selection for take out and fourteen on draft. The staff is very friendly and fantastic and they really make you feel like your at home.
Today my wife tried their sardine app. and anchovy appetizer. The dishes were very fresh and flavorful. She also tried their house salad, the portion size was great and the lettuce was fresh and crispy. With her salad she also had a side of

I've been told for years that Primos has great sandwiches. I finally decided to stop in and see what it's all about. I had the pastrami Ruben. It's was good. I went back later and got the spicy Italian. Oh my it was good. The cheese was creamy and it was grilled. I added a hot relish mix. It was hot. It was great. When ever I'm in the area, I'm stopping in and getting the spicy Italian. I wish they had fries though. They serve the sandwiches with a small little cheap bag of dandee chips as well. I feel they could have better chips.
