Dr. Freed is a licensed psychologist in Oregon. He has special expertise in neuropsychology and has been licensed as a psychologist for more than 25 years. He has been licensed in Oregon since 2001 and prior to that, he was licensed in Texas since 1993. Dr. Freed officially opened his private practice in 2005.
He previously worked as the Chief of Psychology at Oregon State Hospital. Prior to that, Dr. Freed served as an Associate Professor at Texas Tech University. Dr. Freed started his career on the faculty at the University of Southern California, where he had faculty appointments in three different academic departments: Psychology, Gerontology, and Neurology.

Neuropsychology involves the relationship between brain function and behavior. A neuropsychological evaluation consists of a history-taking interview, testing, and observation. During the interview, you will be asked about your family, education, work history, medical history, legal history, and your current symptoms.

One component of Dr. Freed's practice is the evaluation of individuals following head injury or concussion.
Dr. Freed was born and raised in Corvallis, Oregon, the youngest of four siblings. He graduated from Crescent Valley High School and subsequently attended the University of Oregon. Dr. Freed received his doctorate in Behavioral Neuroscience from MIT. He served on the faculty at the University of Southern California and later at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Freed is amazing. I struggled with understanding my mental health for years, unable to get proper, thorough diagnosis. Dr. Freed not only was able to give me the answers I needed, but he pinpointed my genetic mutation that I was able to confirm through the genetic testing I had already done privately. I wish every neurodivergent patient could have a professional with Dr. Freed's expertise and thoughtful care available to diagnose them.
He has a passion for his field and is continuing to learn about the genetic factors behind the conditions he diagnoses. The world would be a far better place

I was very impressed with how knowledgeable Dr. David Freed was. He is also an unusually observant practitoner and his ability to focus and listen carefully made all the difference in the evaluation process. His evaluation was by far the most professional and thorough that I have ever received (And I have spent thousands of dollars [out of pocket] for an evaluation at the well-respected Amen clinic.) Dr. Freed was highly skilled, very intuitive and he was able to determine the specific tests that I needed. I am easily fatigued and dr.
