Jacob Reinkraut, DPM, FACFAS is a Bergen County native, who opened his private practice in familiar territory. He helps the people of Ridgewood, New Jersey, get back on their feet at Complete Foot and Ankle. Dr. Reinkraut or as his calls himself "Jake" is a physician who is known by his patients to be compassionate and caring because he believes that the patient's well-being always comes first, and he treats every patient like family.
This is a common and usually normal occurrence after surgery or an injury. It is often due to altered walking, injury or from being in a boot or cast but it can also be due to a blood clot. Some people are predisposed to these blood clots.
If you or someone in your family has had a venous blood clot (DVT or Deep Vein Thrombosis ) or if you are immobilized, had a recent injury, are on hormone replacement/ Birth Control Pills or Diuretics you are at higher risk.Blood clots in the legs are taken very seriously because the clot can dislodge and go to your lungs.

After most foot and ankle surgery we recommend elevating and icing the site. If the bandage it too thick or you have a boot splint or cast on icing behind the knee can help. Edema or swelling is one of the most common complications of foot and ankle surgery because the foot is often in a dependent position (hanging down).
The next morning remove the bandage. Pull out the yellow xeroform (non-stick antimicrobial vaseline gauze) if tender or sticking gently pull out while soaking. Soak for 5-10 minutes in warm water with epsom salt. We recommend following up 2 weeks after the procedure to see that all is healed and to discuss how to prevent this from happening again.

I had broken my 5th metatarsal bone which required an internal fixation to set the bone properly. Dr. Reinkraut performed the procedure and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, I was free of pain within a week of the surgery. Dr. Reinkraut’s confidence, expertise, and delightful manner made the stressful process much less scary and very easy. I would recommend Dr. Reinkraut to anyone seeking out a podiatrist and personally will not see anyone other than him- he is a great person and doctor who I trust with any foot complications. I have to say Dr Gomez gave me all I was looking on a Surgeon: confidence, thrust and hope. I would recommend Dr Gomez to anyone, he answered all my questions and concerns, and after the surgery he was always there for me during the all recovery process.. The ladies in the office at the beginning a little disorganized but later on, Not Problem. The only thing I would recommend to the manager is to have a person with more empathy for patients in the front desk welcoming all patients . All the time I was there ( ridgewood) office, I never feel very comfortable. Sad to say, but all the other ladies

Dr. Reinkraut is an incredible doctor who shows extreme care and concern for each of his patients. I was a patient of his back in 2015 when I fractured my foot dancing. I had never been to a podiatrist before and was worried on how it would affect my upcoming ballet performance. Dr. Reinkraut and his staff at Complete Foot and Ankle in Ridgewood, NJ, greeted me with open arms and because of him, I was able to get up on stage in May and dance in my first ever solo. Dr. Reinkraut is absolutely the most fantastic physician around! I call him a physician and not a podiatrist because he's not your typical assumption of what a podiatrist is. He's taken such great care of me and my treatment has been first rate all the way. I even included a picture of the boot that he gave me - I bedazzled it! I wouldn't recommend any other doctor for anything foot or ankle related! The staff is also super helpful regarding insurance matters as well.
