Sunbeam Early Learning Center

In the fall of 1980 Sunbeam Nursery School opened its doors. The school was named after the song, "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam." In 1991 as the need in the community grew for quality child care Sunbeam expanded to a fully licensed child care center. The center was renamed to Sunbeam Child Care Center LLC.

Sunbeam Early Learning Center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. The Academy is a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators.

Early childhood programs accredited by the National Academy have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study, invited external professional review to verify compliance with the Academy's Criteria for High Quality Early Childhood Programs, and have been found by a panel of early childhoo d education experts who meet in Washington, D.C., to be in substantial compliance with the Criteria Sunbeam Early Learning Center was first accredited in August of 1998 and continues to hold its accreditation.

The care that infants, toddlers, and twos receive and their experiences during the first 3 years of life have a powerful influence on how they view the world, how they relate to others and their ability to succeed as learners. We, at Sunbeam, have the unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of very young children and their families.

The preschool years are a special period in the lives of young children. During this time, they begin to trust persons outside their families. They gain independence and self-control, and they learn to take the initiative and assert themselves in socially acceptable ways. The become keen observers who experiment to find out what happens when they interact with other people and manipulate materials.

We provide before school care for children in the Watson attendance area. Children that are enrolled in before school care are provided with quiet experiences and activities prior to being picked up by the Watson area school bus. We provide after school care for children in the Watson and Jayenne attendance area along with children from Fairmont Catholic.
