Shantel's Dance Academy was established by Shantel Robeaux in 1999 with one dance room, and combination office/waiting room. From the start, Ms. Shantel had a vision of providing a quality dance education as well as instilling morals, values, and confidence that would last a lifetime. As the studio began to grow, Ms. Shantel added a 2nd dance room in 2002 to accommodate more dancers.
The second studio was great but Ms. Shantel still wanted more for her dancers. She dreamed of a beautiful space that was equipped with sprung floors, a beautiful reception area, spacious viewing areas, and plenty of parking to accommodate the growing studio. In 2008 a brand new strip mall was being built in Belle Chasse.

Services
A Beginner-intermediate dance class that includes jazz & tap fundamentals as well as a choreographed routine set to great music. This fun dance class will boost your mood, reduce stress, improve your memory skills, help you to develop better balance skills, along with many other health benefits. Our Pre-School Level dance classes introduce young children to music and performing arts. Students are taught the fundamentals of ballet, tap, jazz, and tumbling in a fun and safe environment. Age-appropriate music and dance moves are always a priority! The program helps students develop listening and motor skills, body awareness, endurance, concentration, group cooperation and individual expression, coordination, and balance.
Our Primary Combo dance classes are a combination of ballet, tap, and lyrical. The ballet barre is introduced in the level 4 class and continues to play an important role throughout the dancer's lessons as they grow. Dancers will learn correct terminology of the dance steps they learn. Each class will consist of exercises to build technique, musicality, strengthening, and memory skills.
Our combo dance classes for ages 11-18 is a one hour class composed of ballet, tap, lyrical, and contemporary dance. Ballet technique is a main focus and is incorporated throughout the different dance styles. Proper dance warm-up, strengthening exercises, across the floor, and dance combinations build on the dancer's skills to reach their own dance goals.
Please join us this summer as we provide a host of age-appropropriate classes to keep students entertained and exercised throughout the summer. Dance, crafts, and fun! Each day is a different theme and the dancers will have a chance to use their imagination, learn a dance, make a craft, and so much more.

Our 4-year old daughter recently started attending SDA after a military move that included a long separation from her Dad. The staff at SDA truly took this into consideration and welcomed our entire family with loving, open arms. We have been thrilled with the instruction our daughter has received and have seen so much growth in her during just a few short months. We love Ms. Shantel & her studio and we would highly recommend it to anyone!

Dancing there was so much fun! My previous dance school was very competitive... at Shantel's it was the complete opposite! It was a very family/friend oriented place. Everyone was there to help each other, learn together and enjoy a love for dance. I miss dancing there and would definitely recommend SDA to anyone looking for a dance school.

My daughter is the shyest little girl and Ms Shantel and her teachers bring out her sparkle. Ms Shantel is the answer for any shy little girl. I can't believe my daughters growth over the last 2 years. Any child can flourish in this caring environment. Ms Shantel truly cares for all her students and their needs. There are no exclusions, every child is a star here. Thank you to Ms Shantel and her amazing staff.
