Established in 1990, the New Orleans Dance Academy offers instruction in classical Ballet, Flamenco, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop in a friendly, noncompetitive atmosphere. Our children's dance program consists of several levels of instruction and culminates with an annual spring performance. Our adult classes are open to the public and instruction ranges from beginning to the advanced professional.

How To Choose a Dance Studio Report

Our dance studio in Uptown New Orleans offers a wide variety of classes. In addition to ballet classes, we offer a full program of dance styles such as Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Flamenco. Our dance studios are fully air-conditioned and we offer free wifi for students who need to study between classes.

What I love about the New Orleans Dance Academy is that it has the feeling of family. All three of my daughters really blossomed and improved as dancers when we transferred to this dance school because of the wonderful and caring teaching staff. The classes are kept to relatively small sizes, allowing each dancer to receive the attention they deserve to succeed.

Children's Workshops Report

Our workshops are a fantastic way for dancers to join us for the first time or supplement their weekly classes. In our workshops dancers strengthen their skills, learn more about the dance world, and about being a dancer for life. Children will experience multiple ways of learning about and enjoying dance.

Tiny Steps Report

Tiny Steps offers the child and caregiver the opportunity to explore dance together! Stretch, twirl, jump, play and learn alongside your little dancer. This class teaches musicality, motor and movement skills and coordination. The adult and child have fun in this exciting bonding experience as they learn the fundamentals of dance.

Children's Class Descriptions Report

In Pre-Ballet, dancers learn basic ballet steps and discover movement, musicality, and body awareness, while learning listening and social skills, and discipline in a fun way. As with all of our classes, children will experience the adventure of dancing on stage in our spring performance. Children must be fully potty-trained before enrolling.

My little ones have loved their dance classes at New Orleans Dance Academy. Tiny Steps was a great introduction to dance and movement for my youngest. My older kids have thoroughly enjoyed the thematic Children's Dance Workshops -- even my son attended one.

I’m a recreational adult dancer who has been dancing at New Orleans Dance Academy for over 5 years. I love this amazingly adult-friendly studio. Classes are targeted at adults of all levels (those with previous dance experience as well as complete novices) and the unique needs of adult dancers. I also love the friendly and incredibly supportive adult dancer community. My fellow classmates are there to work hard, but also to have fun and learn together.
I started my dance journey at NODA with absolutely no dance experience and found a comfortable and supportive home where I have grown from someone

My favorite place! Adult ballet is wonderful! I am about to start taking my second class on Mondays. (Baby beginner classes are on Thursday evenings - join us!) Meg is a fantastic teacher and Sasha is helpful and organized. Love the NODA team!

This school has a really cool environment that is located in the heart of Tulane University. Adult ballet classes are laid back but you learn a lot. The owner/instructor was a former professional dancer and she provides excellent instruction and corrections.

Just finished our first Tiny Steps series. While she often did her own thing in class (as most toddlers do) my daughter loved the class and instructor. It is a fun class incorporating ballet into music instruments, twirling with scarves, and even hula hoops. Fun for parents too.

Love my morning ballet classes with Denise Oustalet and Susan Burke. Excellent technique, moves well, artistic and fun. Enjoy all the other students in the class, a very friendly environment!
