The company was founded in 1948 by Floyd Moore as soon as he completed high school with start-up money saved from mowing lawns in the summertime. Moore Landscapes has since become one of the larger commercial landscape contractors in the billion-dollar Chicago landscape market.
The early client list of the company (originally called Moore's Landscape & Nursery) included mostly residential maintenance projects on Chicago's wealthy North Shore along Lake Michigan but expanded in the late 1950s into larger commercial installation and maintenance projects.
