Southern Healthcare was established in 2001 by Geoffrey Cox, with a vision of enhancing the quality of life people experience in residential care homes in Devon to one that is evidently holistic, individually focussed and most of all, built on a sense of family. We work in partnership and build meaningful relationships between staff, residents and relatives.
There are a number of new and innovative models of care that have been developed to surpass historical expectations, often citing a long-established medically focussed approach to care, as distinct from focussing on what people individually and subjectively seek. Modern regulation has been effective and takes a robust approach to monitoring high standards of care, safety and innovation.

Services
Quality of life: Residents quality of life comes first in everything that we do. We fully and positively involve our residents, our team, residents' families, (and healthcare professionals as appropriate) to ensure the closest working partnership. Kind and Meaningful Relationships: This is at the heart of everything we do.
Southern Healthcare is highly committed to raising the quality of life of Residents within our Homes. In each Home our team collectively works well together for the benefit of our residents, ensuring that days are filled with meaningful activities, loving companionship and spontaneous kindness and fun.
We are a small family business, with 4 residential care homes in Devon and 225 staff, including an experienced management team. Geoffrey Cox, the M.D. of Southern Healthcare strongly believes in the influence of the foundational works of the late Carl Rogers, the architect of the concept of 'Person Centredness' and of our practising 'Unconditional Positive Regard' in interpersonal relationships throughout our homes.
Each of our four homes - The Old Rectory in Exeter, Parkwood House in Plymouth, The Seaton Nursing Home and Sefton Hall in Dawlish - pride themselves on being unique settings with a powerful, shared ethos. And we understand that close, quality relationships between the team and residents are crucial to making our homes happy places for those who live and work in them.
We are always guided by experienced and qualified staff, whether our own, or other professionals. Our team are fully aware of how to divert awkward moments, and this isn't usually a problem for us. My Aunt has diabetes and many other conditions associated with it, will this be a problem?. We are very familiar with complex care and in particular long term health conditions and manage it with your full involvement and satisfaction.

My father in law has now been living at Sefton Hall for the last year. Both we, the family and Dad think Sefton is an excellent nursing home. Through the COVID-19 crisis they have been superb making the best of a very difficult time. Perhaps the most important thing to say is that they are genuinely really caring. We looked around many homes in the area before putting the choice of home to Dad - he chose Sefton and he was right.

A Nurse myself for 20 years, my grandfather is a resident. Restored my faith in nursing homes... this home gets much right with very much little to improve. The care staff care and the owners are engaged, interested and responsive to feedback. Ignore the trolls and negative comments they’re either false or idiots.
