Western Health Advantage (WHA) is a leading health plan in Northern California, providing comprehensive health benefits and services to over 100,000 members and 5,000 employers. I feel really bad for the people who have had negative experiences with WHA, but I have had nothing but a positive experience! All of the best doctors and specialists in my area are covered by it, and my prescriptions are easy to get through Magellan.

If I could give zero stars I would. Nearly no specialists to choose from in my "region" Referalls constantly delayed or rejected, constant changing of who is an approved Doctor for services, had to go through another medical group for authorizations which became a part time job. Maybe this insurance is great in emergency situations, but I am leaving as soon as open enrollement lets me and wont look back.

Got a $3000 bill from the hospital for an ailment that turned out not to be as serious as previously thought. I put in the dispute with the hospital and they complained the insurance company was giving them the runaround. Thats pretty unprofessional as it gets and to add insult to injury, I received another bill for the insurance adjustment that was supposed to be taken cared of in the amount of $325. So in other words, this company didn't BOTHER to lift a finger for coverage. As if taking $600 from my husband's paychecks each month wasn't enough....AVOID!

Do not use this health insurance company, they are really bad company.

I'm upset that I have to give 1 star. I have had this insurance for 2 months and I haven't been able to get a appointment with any doctors. Customer service is a joke!!! Pay a few extra dollars and get quality insurance. This is worst then Medi-cal. My employer pays money every month and I can't see a doctor????

This is the worst insurance I have ever had. I can never see my actual doctor. No labs take this insurance in my area, so I have to travel out of the county to get work done. I seem to come out of pocket more than being covered. Such a joke and a waste of money in my opinion. I cant wait to get my new insurance company in Jan 2019! I will be paying $50 a month less for better coverage.
