Day Piston Company was approached by a client from the industrial compressor industry to manufacture large diameter aluminum pistons. To produce these pistons, we needed to construct a complete manufacturing cell. Our skilled and experienced engineering staff designed the system and our team built the highly-engineered tools and work holding fixtures that this project required.
Day Piston Company was commissioned by a diesel engine manufacturer to undertake the complete engineering, design, and fabrication of this piston manufacturing cell. The cell would be designed to produce cast iron pistons for their aftermarket customers. It would have to be able to manufacture pistons with a 4" outside diameter, 6" in length, weighing 5 lbs.
