Services
Some of the greatest explorers visited Prince William Sound. Vitus Bering, a Danish navigator, served in the Russian Navy and discovered Alaska in 1741. Georg Wilhelm Steller, the famous German naturalist, was a member of the Bering Expedition, which made landfall at Kayak Island, approximately 100 miles southeast of Whittier.
Phillips Cruises and Tours began in 1958 when tourism pioneers Brad and Helen Phillips, founders of our company, began operating in Prince William Sound with the vessel M/V Gypsy, an 85-foot vessel previously owned by John Barrymore. Unfortunately, that historic vessel was lost in the great 1964 Alaskan Earthquake.
The 26 Glacier Cruise departs from Whittier to explore the calm waters and wild sights of Alaska's Prince William Sound. Discover glacier-carved fjords and pristine wilderness around every turn. Watch for marine wildlife and migratory birds along the way. Travel in comfort aboard safe, modern high-speed catamarans.
The Glacier Quest Cruise takes you from the quaint seaside town of Whittier to glacier-filled Blackstone Bay. As your Captain departs the Cliffside Marina, look back towards town to see Whittier glacier. Learn about the Native Alaskans who first settled in this region of Prince William Sound and how the military built the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel connecting Whittier to Interior Alaska.
Every cruise into Prince William Sound is a unique and memorable way to view the beauty of this pristine wilderness area's glaciers and wildlife. Conditions constantly change due to weather, ice flows, and wildlife activity. The Captain adjusts the cruise route to provide the best cruise experience while keeping your safety and comfort a top priority.

Probably one of our favorite things we did in Alaska during our trip. The captain had an amazing sense of humor on the Bravest, the salmon chowder was really good and the food was generously portioned. Out of control anyone's control was who we'd sit with; but still awesome was our seat mates. They were fun people. The views and the glaciers of course were absolutely stunning. We saw stellar sea lions, sea otters, and a bald eagle. It was end of season so we expected to see less/no wildlife so that was ok.
An unexpected surprise was learning the boat's 9/11 history. The Bravest helped evacuate

Came all the way to Whittier, Alaska to cruise on the highly recommended 26 Glacier Cruise. Arrived an hour earlier than they asked and they cancelled the cruise citing mechanical issues. How's a traveler to trust an agency when they don't let you know off the cancellation in advance. Does not seem professional if they notice ship breakdowns at the last minute (which was the reason given). The only reason it's a two star is that they put us on the shorter cruise - but that's not exactly what I came for and nor do I have the time in my trip to reschedule the original cruise .Disappointed!

Wow this was truly majestic and very well put together! The food, the service, and the views were all amazing. The prices at the snack bar and the on board gift shop were very reasonably priced! I will be recommending this to all my friends who plan to go to Alaska someday soon! Thank you Phillips Cruises!

We did the Phillips 26 Glacier tour which was a sweet mix of Alaska Railroad and cruise on a boat...Excellently organized and executed, super nice and friendly staff...special call out to the Narrator, Captain Bobby, on the glacier cruise who narrated non stop for over 5 hours...his passion for what he does was apparent and made the tour engaging and informative in a fun way....he needs a raise!!!!

Wonderful experience all around. Assigned seats relieved stress for all. Excellent and filling lunch - the chowder was so good! The complimentary beverages were also a big hit. Even the captain's commentary was great, filled with fascinating facts and informative. We all loved it. Smooth sailing too. 👍👍👍👍👍

Great experience. The staff and crew were very welcoming and pleasant. It was pretty overcast and foggy when we left port, but besides this the views were great and hearing the large glacier crack and watching it calve was amazing. The only constructive criticism I have is that Whittier can do a lot better with signage to aid visitors on where to park as the parking lot for the cruise was full and the directions provided on where to park was not clear.
