Rupena's has been a household name in the Milwaukee Metro area since 1927, when the business was founded by John S. Rupena. We are widely known and receive numerous accolades for our reputable catering services, superior meat selections, made from scratch products, and custom blended all-natural seasonings.
Pig and chicken roasts are a Rupena's Fine Foods tradition. Rotisserie units are available if you want to do it yourself or we can cook it for you. Seasoned with Rupena's Secret Seasonings, choose chickens, a pig(s) or a combination of both. Nothing beats slow cooking over an open pit. Missing a lot of food. Went for ham, and they only had 0.75lbs when needing obviously more. No prosciutto. No soy sauce. No sesame oil. Minimal meat selection. Got some mediocre deli pasta salad. New to area and was disappointed after hearing people talk it up. They should take a play from Bunzels and just be either a decent grocery store or a good meat market and deli.

I had a Thanksgiving catastrophe avoided because of the incredible people at Repena’s. Despite the fact that they were closed for the day, they still answered my knock at the front door and made sure that my holiday gathering was successful.
I have always had excellent quality products, and above excellent service at Rupena’s.
In the over 26 years that I have lived nearby, I have always looked at them as an extreme asset to the community.

State fair experience.
Amazing!
Seriously some of the best chicken I've ever had, and probably the best "bargain" at the fair. Enjoyed it both visits.
Getting married out of town in 3 weeks, had I been doing it in town I'd be kicking myself if I didn't hire them to cater.
The stuffing bites were incredible!

11/10 customer service! I went to Rupena’s the other day to buy some hot ham and rolls and a young women named Kyra or Kira I believe, was very kind and enthusiastic. Not only that, but I was at an event catered by Rupena’s and saw the same young lady there with a few other Rupena’s team members. Very kind workers with refined manners and positive attitudes. Keep up the good work!

Amazing family owned business! Highly recommend. I came here looking for kabob meat post the birth of my twins who are in the nicu at the Aurora hospital down the road. I was starving and decided to get their hot dish of meat loaf dinner and chicken pot pie! The owner john (?) started saying hi and making small talk… he was so kind and treated me like he’s known me forever, like family. He then proceeded to say dinner is on the house and congratulated me on my babies! I will continue to give my business to someone like that. It meant a lot to me!

Ordered catering for my daughters party and I was so glad we did! They're famous chicken never disappoints and their Italian sausage was the ultimate bomb! Nice sizes enough to share for the weight watchers. Plenty of delectable flavor with peppers and onions in a delicious tomato sauce. You can Gold potatoes were perfectly seasoned. Delivery was prompt and friendly. Highly recommend. Next time I would order less chicken and more sausages as those were ahead and I was sad they were almost gone.

Not the biggest or best selection but definitely has that small-town local store feel. The people are all super friendly and helpful and genuine. The burgers are my favorite to take home and throw on the grill. The entire deli selection is full of awesome options and could easily provide lunch everyday if you wanted to go get some fresh food.

We just moved here. Maria the owner was so kind and welcoming and gave us a tour of the store. She introduced us to some seasoning blends (Italian, poultry/fish, beef/pork) they make in house. We talked about how it's long family owned business. New changes and updates coming. You can't help but love and root for a wonderful place like this. I know Rupena's is enriches lives of the folks that shop there. We are now one of them. What a find!

Excellent meats and very reasonable. They have BY FAR the best and most reasonable priced steaks in the area. Their deli and soups and hot offerings are very good. The seafood gumbo soup is great. Very friendly employees. Have them season the steaks for you. They also sell the mega grilling options where you can rent the big spots and they provide the charcoal and 10 chickens or a lamb or whatever you need. Try the deep fries studding balls and gravy at State Fair. Yuuuummmmmmyyyyu

Rupena's is such a special place! My boyfriend and I have a tradition of picking up deli meatballs and Italian bread, on our way to visit my Sicilian grandma. Their deli food is delicious, and they have the cutest little "eatery". I hope it stays around forever, as its such a cute little gem of Milwaukee's Italian history. I love admiring their window paintings every visit (: The only downside- I wish they had a bigger selection of italian cookies! It's a very disappointing selection, sorry to say. But I still love you, Rupena's!

When it comes to Ribs - this Rupena's just about as good as it gets.
We Rupena's them cater to our office, Ribs and Chicken. I didn't even know about this place. One of my managers had ordered the catering. Very pleasantly, I was surprised at how tasty the ribs were!
Chicken also was very good - but frankly, perhaps a bit, if any, better than the typical rotisserie chicken you get for almost free at the super markets.

Upgrading my 1-star rating as subsequent visits have been much better & considering the owner reached out to discuss my experience, I'm adding an additional star for that - ownership and follow through MATTER.
Having said that the butchers are very hit-or-miss. Haven't seen bare hands on the meat ever again but consistency in good customer service would be appreciated. Either very helpful butchers or snarky ones laughing behind the counter - please choose the former, not the latter. Also, fruit flies can be seen on the produce. Please be mindful of that. This is is what I imagine a 1960s super market would have been like before all the big stores took over. I was told I have to try Milles Italian sausage because it's pretty good. Rupenas was the only place I called that had it so I went over. While looking at the amazing meat case I noticed a pan of house made smoke buts and I was not leaving with out one. It was very good and lean compared to that red wrapped fatty piece of garbage thing I see it the store. Yes the Milles sausage was very good by the way. This is a great old school store and a gem. I will be back.

So nice to have this relic of a different time right in my 'hood. A great prepared foods counter as well as that spectacular meat counter.
My one disappointment was the lack of sort of "grab and go" meat - I went in looking for something I could throw in the oven without the need for extra preparation (filled chicken breast, wrapped filets, something along that line) for those busy/lazy dinner nights and I was a little let down in that area. The meat is always wonderful and reasonably priced, but this will not be the place I head for that particular want. Not a huge deal, but still

When you walk in, it's like stepping back in time. A few aisles of standard groceries, no self checkout lanes, a fabulous meat counter with a butcher, and Serbian specialities.
If you want specialty meats or too-notch steaks and sausages, this is the place. The butcher can get an order ready for you and customize a meat order. They also have sour heads of cabbage fermenting in the back if you ask for them. Perfect for making a big batch of sarma!

The smell! Grew up a few blocks away and I'll never forget the smell. Why is it that old corner groceries all have that smell??
I still crave the hot ham and Vienna rolls on Sundays. Now we try and stop in once in a while when we're planning on having nice steaks or sausages. The Hungarian are my favorite, but the brats and others are top notch as well. The mambo combo is just a mix of the leftovers of the other sausages and can be kind of fun. Check out the frozen case in the dairy aisle near the meat. They have more unusual sausages and meats there that they don't make regularly

The parents were coming over for dinner. Rupena's was always the small grocery store that my parents went to for fancy meat, so yesterday I did the same and was not disappointed. The butcher guy was very knowledgable and friendly, possibly even excited about the filets I was getting (6 generously sized ones were under $40). Solid quality meats.
While I was there, I decided to pick up the rest of my grocery list items because I was just too lazy to stop somewhere else. They had everything I needed and the employees were so helpful. At one point, a gal walked me over to the french onions

This is a great neighborhood store. Love it for the great fresh meat dept. along with the great salads and breads. I will typically venture to Rupena's when I want brats and burgers. They do a great job with flavors and spices. They have such a large variety of meats, this is a must go destination for any cookout.
Rupens's is great if you are also looking for a nice variety of vegetarian foods, cheeses and canned goods.
The prices are fair and you will know you bought quality when you shop a Rupena's.
