Work difficulties including writer's block, stress in work relationships, & performance anxiety. Deciding to begin therapy can be a difficult step. I often see patients who have had previous therapies that did not seem to go far enough or who have reached an impasse in a recent therapy. Some people seek help at a time of crisis or a major life transition.

Others come with longstanding or recurrent problems. The emotional pain people feel often occurs for reasons medicines and popular remedies do not adequately treat. For some people, psychotherapy is even more effective than medication therapy. In others, psychotherapy plus medication makes the biggest difference.
Services
Please be aware that while seeking psychotherapy does not require a "medical necessity", seeking compensation from an insurance company does. This means that you must qualify for (and receive) a mental health diagnosis if you would like insurance to cover psychotherapy visits. Your insurance company also may ask for significant personal information about you and your symptoms in order to decide how much treatment you will be compensated for.
I deal with a wide variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, self-esteem problems, self-critical tendencies, obsessive symptoms, marital conflicts, feelings of inadequacy, sleep problems, work difficulties, and sexual dysfunctions. I am an experienced practitioner and teacher of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, as well as a physician.
