This hotel is very unflexible. I booked a room on Travelocity and realized that somehow the wrong dates has been chosen. Within minutes I realized the problem and I tried calling the hotel many times to change the reservation but only got an answering machine and nobody called me back. I ended up cancelling on Travelocity and Harbor Inn charged me the full nights stay as cancellation fee. I travel to GM on business regularly and will NEVER stay here and will tell anybody I know to STAY AWAY.

I received a text message that there was no one at the property and they would leave a key in the door to let ourselves in….😕 Then we spent 20 minutes plus trying to get in our room to be told you need to “jiggle” the key while turning the lock. Literally, every time we tried to get in it took us 15-20 minutes to open. The hallways were grungy and needing repairs (be careful of the bannister). The room was ok - maybe a 2 out of 5. Not as grungy as the rest of the property. Seriously for $185 a night - do yourself a favor and find somewhere.

-No staff on site, leaving a voicemail was the only way of connecting with staff.
-Photos and description offered online are deceiving.
-Management was rude but did offer to refund our bill if we could find alternate accommodations which we did.
-Perhaps reviews on this entablement wouldn't be so harsh if the rates were not at the same premium as upscale area hotels.

We stayed in unit 9 and it had been recently renovated. Room was nice, 2 king beds with new bedding. The bathroom was beautifully done. The hotel is just across the street from the bay. Walking distance from shopping and dining. The owner was exceptionally nice and very helpful. We certainly hope to come back.

Something came up after I made a reservation here. I notified the owners 6 weeks before my reservation to seek a full/partial refund or future credit. They have a zero tolerance refund policy. So even though I will not be there for my stay, they are unwilling to open it up to other guests who could enjoy the room instead of us. They would have no issue filling a Friday night reservation in peak tourist season in Grand Marais, very puzzling policy. Will not make a booking here again.
