Camp Kamaji
Camp Kamaji is a sleepaway, summer camp for girls ages 7 through 16 years old located in Northern Minnesota. Kamaji is a safe, happy, fun-filled place for girls to come to unplug, try new activities, be silly and goofy, develop a true sense of self, be deliriously happy and make really strong friendships with campers and staff alike.

Kamaji offers many activities like waterskiing, horseback riding, paddleboarding, archery, dance, windsurfing, sailing and more. Kamaji won't just be about the experiences you have climbing to the top of our climbing wall, portaging a canoe and sailing across the lake, it will also be the people you meet and the memories you make that will stay with you long after your camping days are over and become a part of who you are.
Services
Families who want to have a great time outdoors, relaxing, unplugging, sailing, paddleboarding, waterskiing, arching, singing and more!. At Family Camp, all "campers" will live in a Kamaji camper cabin. Three meals a day will be provided (with a dessert after lunch AND dinner!) in Sloan Hall. Our traditional camp activities will be open and available to you to make sure you are busy, happy, having fun and meeting new people!
Thank you so much for taking the time to "explore" Camp Kamaji. If you are considering sleepaway camp at Kamaji, I'm sure you have a ton of questions. I hope the information provided here on the website helps to give you a better idea of what Kamaji is all about.

While all of this information will give you a great introduction, we believe that the best way to learn about Kamaji and make sure it is the best "fit" for you would be to get together in person.
It is wild for me to say that I direct Kamaji. I grew up at Kamaji as a camper and then went on to work as a cabin counselor and waterski instructor before I worked on the Leadership team as a Unit Director. After I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004 I began working year-round as Kamaji's Associate Director.
We feel so honored to partner with you to help provide your camper with a summer filled with fun, learning new activity skills like how to waterski and horseback ride, learning life skills like problem-solving and compromise, making lifelong friendships with people of different backgrounds, religions, races and places AND knowing that these experiences will impact who they are and what they do as they grow older and become adults.
While there are plenty of jobs out there for college students, take it from us, firsthand, there is no job better than working at camp! No matter where you're from or what your ability level, if you love kids and enjoy the out-of-doors, there are any number of summer camp positions for which you may be qualified.

I was there when I was 12-yrs-old, and other than learning archery, I was cold & lonely.

Our younger daughter went here as a camper, then matriculated into a CIT, a full counselor, and head of the CIT's. Even served as a medical staff member when she was finishing nursing school. This was a life affirming summer home for her for more than 10 years. An amazing place.

It's been years and I still can close my eyes and be back. I went to Kamaji as a young camper, as a counselor in training and as a counselor. My two younger sisters did the same. I still have friends with whom I stay in touch from Kamaji. I am 77 years old and wish I were busy packing to go back!! Had we has children, they would have also gone to Kamaji. My first year was also Bert and Phil's last year and Bill and MF's first year. At least I still have my dreams!
