Shoes at Surrey opened in 2009 in Augusta's charming Surrey Center. Owned by Catherine Boardman, the boutique features the best in women's fashion footwear and handbags. Three years later, Catherine opened a sister store aptly named Shoes on King in the heart of Charleston's King Street Fashion District.

Brought in friends from out of town to shop. Associates were loudly judging our group making comments about our hair and “nose in the air attitude”. I don’t know where they got this idea as we politely spoke to them and I was considering trying on a pair of shoes. I will not be shopping there or recommending to anyone else.

We got to the store at 5:53 and the store closes at 6:00. The door was locked. A gentleman came to the door and very snobbishly asked if he could help us. We said we wanted to shop. He asked what we were looking for???? The answer was shoes obviously. He asked if there was something we could find in 5 minutes? He obviously wanted to get out of there as he had the door locked 7 minutes early. He was so blatantly rude acting as though we had no money to spend! I own a high end boutique and would fire anyone that acted like that. He potentially lost a huge sale but more importantly lost respect!!

I always have such a great experience at Shoes on King. They have amazing sales occasionally. Yesterday my mom and I literally tried on 5 pairs of shoes and unfortunately didn’t take any home with us, but the sales associates were still so kind and happy to help us! I’ll always be a returning customer.

We were window shopping before the store opened and Chris was inside preparing for the day. He let us in and encouraged us to shop and let him know if there was anything we needed. While we didn't purchase anything this trip, the customer service and selection were excellent, as they were our previous visit a year ago when they happily mailed our selections across country. Definitely our favorite shoe store and a must visit in Charleston!

My wife went in to Shoes on King to buy 3 pairs of ON sneakers for an upcoming trip to Europe. Not a single sales associate approached her and asked if she needed help. After looking around for a while she decided to just leave. The store wasn't busy they apparently just don't believe in customer service. She ordered all 3 pairs online when she got home. Not a good business model Shoes on King. We won't be back.

They have some nice shoes in here, but boy are they expensive. I was shocked to see how expensive the shoes were. I mean, I don't know why I was so shocked, maybe because when I saw that they were having a 70% sale and the shoes were still around $300! Definitely don't go here if you're on a budget or a regular college student (like myself).

Yesterday I visited Shoes on King and had an awful experience. My friend and I were doing a quick look in the store. As soon as we walked in it was obvious that the woman who worked there was not happy customers were there. She looked us up and down and let us know that she would be closing the store soon. We said that we would be out of her hair before it closed. We preceded to look at the shoes and even planned to purchase a pair of shoes. Then the employee out of nowhere shouted, "I have been working ALL day and I'm tired, so we are closing now." If this were the case, she should

I’ve visited Charleston - and King St - numerous times over the years and have never been treated so disgustingly as in this store. Like the other reviewer said, the woman looks you up and down when you walk in as if she’s determining whether you’re worthy of walking into the store (that looks and feels like someone’s dirty basement).

The only reason I’m giving them 1Star is because the shoes are nice. However, I felt instantly judged as I walked in the store, almost like they determined based on my outfit that I wasn’t able to afford anything in the store. I couple that walked in after I did and picked up one particular shoe were greeted by a sales rep and attended to, I walked around the store and picked up several shoes and was only met with glares and a watchful eye. I can promise you I won’t be back and I will never speak highly of this store.

I walked into the store looking for Rieker boots. The salesperson looked at my shoes as I walked in the door and decided to ignore me. Really? You judge a person by the shoes they have on that day. I was on my way to the beach and had a weekend of walking on my agenda. This was the first time I felt judged on my appearance. I would prefer to spend my money in a locally owned store but please treat all customers that walk in the door as a potential buyer.
